Ahhh, Steve, Clemens gets strains because he's a power pitcher whose power comes from his LEGS, thus it's only natural that there's some *strain* there.....

Are you saying wells BACK problems are a result of his drawing his power from his back? Not his massive GUT pulling down on his body as he throws the ball? He bragged about being fat and out of shape, then he couldn't pitch because of it.

Good logic. Perhaps you should consider being a bit informed yourself. That game was the turning point of the WS that year, so yes, he deserves the blame of the loss as much as anyone.

Doreen, Kay wouldn't let it go and kept saying it was the only part of the deal he didn't like, but he REALLY didn't like it and came off sounding a bit entitled, I thought.

Susan W didn't say that actual quote, but the way she was acting you'd have thought the Rocket was in fact Jesus Christ himself...

I guess Clemens came out of Game 1 of the 2005 World Series with a bad hamstring after only 2 innings because he is a fat out of shape piece of garbage too? I mean, Clemens has had a lot of leg strains throughout his career. That surely must be why Houston lost that year. Be serious, or at least informed.

I did not hear what Michael Kay had to say on his radio program yesterday. I am really surprised that he was outraged. He sure didn't seem that way on Sunday when the announcement was made. What did he say?

And did Suzyn Waldman really make that statement? Man, that was a little bit over the top, doncha think? Also, I don't think Jesus plays favorites.

Global Warming: I really couldn't agree with you more. It's amazing that seemingly uninformed hatred that plain inaccurate statements being tossed around about Wells. He never said he pitched drunk. He said he pitched hungover. He was at a SNL wrap party that night before. He pitched a gem of a game. Who cares if he was hungover? Not me. And Wells, the same guy who pitched to about a 2.50 ERA that postseason blew the 1998 WS? Talk about revisionist history. The fact that the Yankees couldn't hit their way out of a paper bag that series blew it, not Wells coming out of a game with a 1-0 lead after the 1st inning in Game 5. Wells was fat and out of shape. So what. He's had a damn successful 20-year career while being fat and out of shape. No one has absolutely any idea that him being fat and out of shape is what made him come out of that game. He has a bad back people. While I'm sure his shape didn't help that, it very well might have had nothing at all to do with it locking up that day. I know a lot of people in very good shape that have bad backs. It's a fact. One thing doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the other. And the fact is, Boomer was a big game pitcher with the heart of a lion. Do any of you people badmouthing him even realize how important a cog he was in the '98 season? Clemens wishes that he had Wells' post-game nerves and numbers. This team needs another SP, and Clemens was surely the best available and can help this team. But the same people slamming Wells to try and support Clemens are probably the same bandwaggoners who killed A-Rod to try and support Jeter. It's illogical, and moreso unfounded.

L'Angelo Misterioso, considering he's never done this with the Yankees, we really don't know yet how often Clemens will or will not be with the team on days he's not pitching. He now has 2 or 3 cities to worry about instead of 1 or 2, depending on whether the Yankees are home and away, plus Houston. I travel for a living every week, not 2 or 3 cities a week like these guys do, but every week... and I can tell you that while you may get used to the traveling to a degree, it's still a pain in the a$$ and most of the time you don't want to inflict it upon yourself any more than you need to....

As far as I've understood his situation, he doesn't travel on roadtrips where he's not pitching. But if he is pitching during the roadtrip, I don't think that means he's only there for that day and gone from the team the rest. I think the thought that he will spend exactly 1 day every 5 days with the team is way off from the reality of how he did it with Houston and even more so now that his home stadium is 1200 miles or so from Houston. We really don't know how he'll do it, so should stop reacting as if the team will never see the guy.

Here's a thought - Michael Kay's outrage over the "family plan" on his radio show yesterday was as overly-dramatic as was Susan W's "Jesus has saved us" reaction to Clemens' announcement during the game. What do they have in common? They're both *NERDS*.

Let me clarify.

I meant to say that given Rocket being absent from road trips on which he does not pitch, I wonder how, if at all, Roger is going to have the “under the radar impact I hope he will on people like Hughes, DeSalvo, Rasner, T Clip or anyone of the other young guns they may bring up over the season?
