Greetings from Seattle

I’m lucky, I can sleep on planes. That was the case on Thursday when I boarded a 3:30 flight from LaGuardia bound for Seattle, I took my seat and zonked out.

I awoke 90 minutes later expecting to see blue skies out the window. Alas, it was still New York. Thunderstorms in Pennsylvania delayed our departure. I was able to read a few hundred pages of “I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead,” the new book about the late, great Warren Zevon.

So it was not a fun day of travel. But here I am and the Yankees play the Mariners tonight with Darrell Rasner on the mound.

It got ugly yesterday at the Stadium based on what I read. It could be time to give Ron Villone a shot in the bullpen. In 15 appearances for Scranton, Villone has allowed 17 hits and 10 walks over 21.2 innings while striking out 23. The Yankees have until next week to bring him up or make him a free agent.

At this point, you’d rather see Villone on the mound instead of Luis Vizcaino.

I’ll check back in later with the lineups. But with the 10:05 start, the lineups will be posted later than usual.
