Clemens: 71 pitches in Tampa

Roger Clemens threw a 71-pitch bullpen in Tampa today and is on pace to make his minor-league start on Friday.

A minor-leaguer from Iona College, 23-year-old James LaSala, caught Clemens. “He was on the money,” LaSala said. “Great stuff, great command.”

Clemens stayed on the mound and talked about mechanics with Phil Hughes, Jeff Karstens and Joba Chamberlain.

Clemens also did some running and fielding drills. He spoke to the media when he finished and we’ll pass those quotes along when we get them.
