Roger Clemens had 23-year-old James LaSala catching him today. He’s a 44th-round draft pick who was 1 for 19 at the plate last season in Class A ball.

But he will be able to tell people that he caught The Rocket. LaSala is also from New Rochelle, N.Y. Andrew Gross of the Journal News got him on the telephone today.

Here is the link if you want to listen in on the interview.

I remember him from Iona. He gets to have a nice little story to tell the kids.

    first time poster
Peter the last poster brought up Pavano, did they ever decide what they are doing with him?

Good for him. Most of these latee round picks don’t work out, and they’re little more than roster fillers for the low minors. It’s good to see him get a good experience out of it.

Pavano has been put to sleep by the vet.

More importantly…where is the $51m Japanese import ? Is he dazzling 19 year olds with his off-speed junk in Tampa ?
