(To the sounds of Safe European Home by The Clash … )

Just spent a few hours catching up on some stats. Here are a few interesting ones for you:

Brian Bruney’s last 14 appearances: 11 4 0 0 8 12. His ERA has dropped from 3.38 to 1.57.

Jason Giambi is 4 of his last 44 with one RBI and 15 strikeouts.

Robinson Cano is showing some life. He has hit in 11 straight at 15 of 45 (.333) with seven RBI and seven extra-base hits.

Mariano Rivera’s last 6 appearances: 6 4 1 1 1 7.

Chien-Ming Wang has fanned 11 in his last 14.1 innings.

The Yankees are 2-9 in one-run games.

Scott Proctor had not allowed a run since April 29 until his blow-up Sunday.

Off to Toronto in a few hours. I’ll check in from the Rogers Centre.
