Yankees Win said "IS THE MOST FAMOUS FRANCHISE IN THE ENTIRE SPORTS HISTORY"

I don't know man. I think Real Madrid and Manchester United probably edge the Yankees, but they are surely up there.

Polyanna,
Maybe if they eat Giambi they will get the benefit of his HGH and start playing well. Clearly his body is beginning to fall apart so it can't do him any good any more, but he must see now that his duty is to give it up for the nourishment of the team. Farnsworth isn't big enough for a meal; he'd just be dessert.

I fear that the Red Sox are ahead of the Yankees--have you seen what color Matsuzaka's glove is? That's right--it's red. What do you think really happened to Keith Foulke? The "he signed with the Indians and then decided to retire" story is crap. They ate him.

Peter, next press conference with Torre, ask him why he is still manager and if he deserves to be manager, in his opinion.
Ask him if he truly thinks he makes the right moves with the bullpen. Ask him why he s@cks the d!cks of the multimillionaires on his team and doesn't ream them for playing like the Royals.

Ask him if he cried when he got booed by all of New York.

the yanks run differential is + 18 and they are 8 games below 500 that is almost impossible unless you lose like every close game which they have done.

look at other teams tampa same record as the yanks and they are like - 50 runs, the whitesux have a worse differential, that just shows how bad things have gone....

anyone who would want to pick up mike lowell for next year is a moron... the guys is 34 and has been on decline since the WS about 4 years ago...............

Anyone saying that Torre should be fired makes me sick.

At the very LEAST, he has earned the right to finish this season and let us judge him on the full 162 game season.

And personally, he can finish 80-82 and I think he deserves another season.

Everyone has been drinking WAY too much of that '96-'00 Kool Aid.

They still have Jeter, Posada, Mo, and Pettitte (though there was a hiatus), but you think everyday players like O'Neill, Bernie, Nelson, Stanton, and Tino come along every season?

Torre spent his first 5 years building the blueprint for a winning formula that has since been used by nearly every MLB team.. Since Gonzalez broke his bat in 'Zona, this team has gone out and made acquistion after acquistion that for the most part, go against everything Torre preached.. You're all knowledgeable.. I don't have to speak the obvious.. The offense never had superstars.. It had good hitters and timely hitters.. You give the bullpen a lead in the 7th, and 9 times out of 10 you had a win.

Now, when the pressure is on (whether in the play-offs the last few years, or this season), you have a team that can't put together a rally because 6-7 guys aren't hitting in the line-up. You have starters who can barely get to the 6th, and if they do, you'd have a better shot at a Todd Bridges Gary Coleman cop buddy film being released than them keeping the lead.

Somehow, Torre has been able to take this non-cohesive mess to the play-offs every season. You're damned if you do, you're damned if you don't. Lloyd and Weathers sucked ass during the '96 regular season, and made Torre look like a GENIUS in the play-offs. Managing is like Blackjack. You get a hot streak, you get a cold streak. You've gotta ride it out.. But no one ever wants to be patient.. Proctor gets a K, it's a great move by Torre. Gives up the fly ball, FIRE HIM. He brings in Bruney, Bruney gives up a fly ball, is everyone sitting here saying "that's the right move anyway"?

I'm not in the clubhouse. I don't know what's being said. So why would I assume that Torre goes into the locker room, says "it's ok it will be alright", puts his hands down his pants, and has a cream soda?

The team shows "no fire" or "heart" on the field because of the players we have. What's Torre gonna do? If you had a Parcells type of presence, he'd be pulling all the dead weight off the field. Well, Torre used to be that mgr. Tino and Boggs couldn't hit a beach ball in the '96 World Series. Torre benched their ass and put in Fielder and Hayes. We don't have anywhere NEAR that depth. He's not the GM. He HAS to ride the hand he's been dealt.

This isn't hockey. This isn't basketball. You're not given a birth to the play-offs just by fielding a team (save for the Knicks who can't even get tickets to May basketball). People need to stop acting as if any schmuck can just take the Yankees and their bloated payroll to the playoffs.

Maybe I'm the idiot. Maybe I'm drunk off the Kool Aid thinking Torre is still the steady presence we need in that dugout. But we still have 2/3's of the season left and this man has earned the right to show me what, if anything, he's still got up his sleeve.

Go Hickory High

and I'm out like a trout
