The Yankees are off today. We’re here back at blog headquarters in New York preparing to drive up to Boston tomorrow morning.

In terms of news today: Jason Giambi was due to get a cortisone shot today. He traveled back to New York after the game last night. The Yankees also could make a move. It’s likely that Matt DeSalvo will be sent out and a reliever called up for the Boston series.

Here are the pitching matchups for the Red Sox series:

Friday: RHP Chien-Ming Wang (3-4, 4.13) vs. RHP Tim Wakefield (5-5, 3.36), 7:05 p.m., YES

Saturday: RHP Mike Mussina (2-3, 5.86) vs. (5-2, 3.68), 3:55, FOX

Sunday: LHP Andy Pettitte (3-4, 2.51) vs. RHP Josh Beckett (8-0, 2.65), 8:05, ESPN
