Mel,

I agree fully with you, that is exactly what I was saying in my post that started this discussion.

SJ, does have a point that if Giambi is healthy he will not sit. The question is how Torre handles that situation. I just hope he does not repeat the mistake of last year.

Damon will not be traded, he's a legit leadoff hitter. Giambi's health is not going to miraculously get better. Everyone's talking about how Damon is aging and deteriorating as a player. He's Jack LaLane (sp?) compared to Giambi. It seemed like we had a glut of players at 1st and CF. In hindsight that was a good thing, wasn't it? If Giambi continues to have health problems, mlb issues, and Cabrera keeps it up the Yankees will not wedge Giambi back into the lineup. They'd better learn with the Sheffield fiasco last year. I like Damon as the DH until we can good legit, healthy power. He likes it, too, and knows that the team is better with Melky in CF.

If Giambi does come back, his only place in the lineup is DH.
In such a case, Damon should be 1B.
Melky has to be in CF.
If Damon shows he can handle 1B, there is no need to get another 1B. If he can not, and they really want a better 1B, then it is likely Damon will be traded, as they can not do any thing with Giambi becaue of his no trade clause and no one wants him. Damon can be traded to select few teams, I beleive 10, as per his contract.

1) Lets stop with the legal liability junk. Slander first of all is "spoken", libel is "written" and secondly whoever brings the suit has to prove it's not true. You think Clemens is going to let some nobody search through his medical records to prove that he hasn't taken PED's. I don't think so. Also good luck bringing a suit on somebody calling you a panty waist. HAHA the judge would throw that out faster than Clemens throws his fastball.

Predicted 9-3 yesterday, check the record so today its going to be 8-7 Yanks. Scoring in 3 in the bottom of the 8th.

Annie Savoy the Boston Trash...I mean Globe is wrong, oh how shocking. Trying reading the NY Times

RODRIGUEZ REMAINS IN ADS
The Boys & Girls Clubs of America, in response to a published report that the organization was pulling television advertisements featuring Alex Rodriguez because of concerns about his off-field behavior, said in a statement yesterday that it would continue to run the ads.

“A recent statement regarding ads featuring Alex was inaccurate, Evan McElroy, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America senior vice president of communications, said in written statement. “We regret any misunderstandings that have occurred as a result of this statement. Major League Baseball continues to run these spots as part of their campaign in support of Boys & Girls Clubs.

In a telephone interview, McElroy said, “Someone misspoke; it was inaccurate and we regret it. He said the organization never considered pulling the advertisements.

I am as big a fan of Melky as anybody on this board. I defend him when people come out of the woodwork and rip him (remember the, "Why can't Kevin Thompson take his place in the lineup", posts?) whenever he makes a mistake. The issue isn't Melky vs. Giambi. Its Cairo vs. Giambi because, if Giambi is healthy, and Damon can't play first, Damon is going to CF and Melky is going back to the bench.

FWIW, I think they will acquire a first baseman by the deadline. I don't see them going the rest of the year with Cairo and Phelps at first. I also don't think Minky will be back this year because fractured wrists are tough to heal without a full 3-4 months of rest.

Its probably why they want Damon to work out at first base. If Damon can play some first, in the event they don't acquire a first baseman, then it would be ideal.

Damon at first, Melky in center, Giambi at DH.

However, make no mistake, if Giambi is healthy, he isn't going to be a bench player. He is going to be in the lineup.

Would be a shame for Melky but, that's what happens when you overpay in the desire to have an all star at every position. Young guys get squeezed out.

Doesnt the Boys and Girls Club, also use Tom Brady as a spokesperson?
A-Rod is married with a child.....Tom Brady is having a child out of wedlock.
Glad to hear that they are not pulling the ads.

As much as I love Miguel Cairo, and everything he does for the team.
I agree that there is no way he would play ahead of Giambi, when he comes back.
He did an awesome job last year at this time for Cano,"Dontcha Know".

Anyone have info on the ambiedectiuos young pitcher that the Yankees drafted?
