Sprung from cages on Highway 9

It wasn’t exactly an inspiring game today but that’s nine in a row and 12 of 14 for the fuel-injected Yankees. Imagine, they’re pitching so well that Scott Proctor pitched the ninth to get some work in.

Great start by the ever-reliable Andy Pettitte. He’s 4-4 and could easily be 9-2. For all the (justified) criticism of Brian Cashman for Carl Pavano, Kyle Farnsworth and Kei Igawa, going hard after Pettitte was a very smart move.

Is the National League really this bad? Arizona came in to the Bronx 10 games over .500.

Next up: the Mets. They’re in a tailspin but Willie Randolph will have them ready to play this weekend.

Lots of blogging for the Subway Series, so check in all weekend.
