Gentlemen, thanks for the update on Tampa. I missed the game today due to other obligations, or I would have responded earlier.

How's Miranda's defense? He has the right to remain silent, anything he sez can and will be used against him. He has the right to an attorney, especially if Selig/Mitchell call him.

Oh, wait, you were talkin on the field. Sorry, talkin about Selig always rots my brain

how's miranda's defense? is he strictly a power guy?

a left handed fielding first baseman would be nice.

I don't know how many people realize this but Mitchell the guy running the investigation is part owner or on the board of the red soxs. can you say conflicting interests. Like he wouldn't sweep anything under the rug if a current or past redsox players name turned up on his desk. I'd like to know how he stays at the head of the investigation with the conflict.

I would add Colin Curtis and Juan Miranda to the list of players to watch at Tampa.

Curtis is an interesting guy. Throws and bats lefthanded, can play both corner OF spots, and is really coming on with the bat. Hitting .405 his last 18 games and has his average up to .311 going into today's game.

He's a "gamer" type of kid. Good line drive hitter, excellent OF. Worth watching.

As far as Hughes, One of the Tampa players told me last week he is supposed to be in the boot for at least three more weeks. Sounds like that was a pretty bad injury.

If he is going to be in a boot for three more weeks, we are probably looking at the first week of August (at best) for his return.

Miranda is the guy they signed from Cuba last year. He is a first baseman. Depending on what story you believe, he was either in a Cuban prison for two years or was banished from playing baseball in Cuba for two years because they suspected he was looking to defect.

Either way, he missed two years of playing baseball and is just getting back into the swing of things.

He is second in the league in RBI and has 8 HR's. That's a lot in a big ballpark, pitchers friendly league.

He hits and throws left handed.

I saw him play last week and he hit a moon shot, into the wind, for a HR that was pretty impressive.

Selig really is a disgrace to baseball and the fans. I am not really sure what value he brings.

He seems to have screwed up every single decision he makes and his handling of the steroids issues over the years is the worst. instead of standing up and being upfront, he is hiding behind a joke of an investigation.

TonyB, Tabata, Cervelli, Miranda, McCutchen, and Kontos are all players worth following at Tampa. Kontos struck out 6 in 4 innings last night, his first start since coming off the DL.

Hughes is still in a boot in Tampa from what I have heard. Joe said something yesterday to the effect of his not even being on the radar.

SJ44 is right about Selig. This is a dog and pony show of the worst kind. He has nothing on Giambi and he knows it. But the Mitchell "investigation" he started is getting nowhere and this is a lame attempt to boost it.

Can't remember who asked but Mike Myers can pitch every day with how he throws.
