In the Sunday baseball notes, we look at the inventory Brian Cashman has if he wants to make a deal.

The Yankees got help across the board as they beat the Mets 11-8. Brian Heyman has the story.

Tyler Clippard got knocked around then got demoted. This Subway Series notebook also has updates on Jose Reyes, Mariano Rivera, Jorge Posada, Calos Delgado, Derek Jeter and David Wright.

Luis Vizcaino is back and helped beat the Mets yesterday. He gives Mo Rivera some of the credit.

Tom Glavine will get to 300 wins at some point. But getting to No. 296 is proving to be a problem as John Delcos explains.

Rick Carpiniello is 2 for 2 in the Subway Series. His excellent column today looks at Derek Jeter and Jose Reyes. Who’s better?

The Subway Series brought out a few famous fans including one who was booted out of the Mets clubhouse. Brian Heyman gets all People Magazine on us with this story.

Some Mets and Yankees talked about their Dads in this Father’s Day story by John Delcos.

Thanks Pete. Very good father’s day stories from the players and good to read when players compliment each other and their opponents. Even though I’m a Yankee fan most, gotta show love for David Right and Reyes.

Not sure if you are a father but Happy Father’s Day to you too Pete if you are.

I love that Bill was escorted out of the clubhouse. Goes to show you no “celeb” treatment there. LOL

I know this is from a competiors newspaper but I thought the article and what it was about deserves to be seen. I’m not sure how many know of Jorge’s sons problems, well he had his last of a number of surgeries over the winter and it appears that he won’t have anymore major ones. This shows the human side (that we normally don’t see) of the players.

I got a book for Fathers day called The Pride and The Pressure by Michael (The Post) Morrisssey . I quote from the book: “it’s been a priviledge to work with and get to know many of them ( day to day writers) ……Peter Abraham….are just a few people who have made the clubhouse more enjoyable.

Pete, your article on Cashman’s trade prospects has a picture of Michael Young and a caption about Mark Teixeira.

How come Ny media is killing Beltran and They don’t give credit What Yankees pitchers have done and do their job by shutting him down? They always blame it on slump or some kind of injury..

Joba Chamberlain’s second start in AA today. Left after 6 in a 1-1 game.

    His numbers: 6 innings, 3 hits, 1 run, 1 BB, 8 k’s.

    Matt:

Thanks. I have nothing to do with the captions, layout or headlines. I’ll let them know.

    Jennifer,

Thanks for the link about Jorge Luis’ story. It makes me more appreciate Posada’s achievement in the game given the family situation he has been in.

Here is a picture of father and son of Posada

The reason Glavine hasn’t pitched well in his last 2 starts is because he was facing AL lineups with DH . He knows with his stuff he wont survive AL . If Glavine was pitching in AL in his career , he wouldn’t even have 175 wins . Glavine has to be the most undeserving 300 wins winner in the history of baseball . He is facing half the lineups in NL . No wonder Randy Johnson chickened out to NL because he knew AL was killing him . There is a reason pitchers like Glavine dont sign up with AL teams because they know they’ll get rocked in AL . Its so much easier to pitch in NL with those half line ups .
I think its shame that pitchers like Glavine are even mentioned in the same breath as pitchers like Clemens . Glavine is not even one hundreth the pitcher Clemens is .
