I am too young and too remote from New York to have heard about Munson until today, but indeed I do not know of any other good catcher of Yankees besides Jorge and Yogi.

One thing that bothered me while I was reading the article, though, is about Gator. I searched Wikipedia for Gator, and the information shows that Gator is a sinker-pitcher. I know that Wang did not learn his sinker from Gator, but I wish to know more about Gator’s slider…

Many people talked about Jorge’s having to catch 22 different pitchers this season. Well, let’s count the things in a different way. If one pitcher has on average 4 different kinds of pitches (it is said that Dice-K has 9), he has to catch 88 different kinds pitches because each pitcher pitches the same kind of pitch differently from others. If Wang learns cutter and fast-splitter, then Jorge has to catch 90 different kinds of pitches. That’s significant. But anyway Jorge is always significant to me.

The Mets are struggling because there 3-4 hitters are terrible at the moment and the bullpen has been springing leaks.

I love that story too. It is great to learn more about Yankee’s history. It gives the game more sparks when we know more about the players. I think that is what separates the LoHud Yankees Blog to the others blog I know.

How bout that day against Reyes? Posada guns him down attempting to steal 2nd, Cairo starts yet another 3-63 DP with Gomez running to 2nd and Reyes to 1st, and then Wang makes him look silly on a nasty strikeout.

Sorta shows how one dimensional the Mets are especially with non existant Carlos’s hogging the lineup. They need to make a trade for an impact OF at the very least. Maybe they can get Sammy Sosa, bring their average OF age down a bit.

What surprised me was that Wang was perfectly ok with the decision Joe made to pull him out with one batter left in ninth inn. He saidâ€? Of course I wanted to finish the game, but I already lost one point to the previous left hand hitter. Since my arm was tired, I think it was better for the team if I rest.”

In addition to his “okâ€? changeup, perfect sinker, and Gator’s slider, I think it will be a dream come true if Wang can learn Mo’s cutter and Clemens’s fast splitter. I had this dream of him learning slider from Gator and cutter from Mo last year before he got his 19 wins. Now that he got Gator’s slider, I hope that my dream will be complete one day! Well, Above all, winning a WS for Yankees is the most important thing for Wang to accomplish now and in the future.
