Postgame report on the way

Posted by: Peter Abraham - Posted in Misc on Jun 27, 2007 Print This Post Print This Post | Email This Post Email This Post

I’ll be back in a little bit with audio from Torre and Clemens and a full postgame report.

But it will be from the air-conditioned comfort of the hotel. The press box here has these plastic screens they roll down over the windows and it’s easily 95 degrees in here.

So while I love the blog, one can take only so much.

Catch you in a little while.

What stage are you guys at with the demise of this team? I’m still on anger. I think once we get 10 games back in the wild card then I’ll have to move on to acceptance. Also did anyone watch the Mexico v Brazil game? As soon as Roger gave up the home run I switched to that game for good. I know Brazil wasn;t at full strength but both of Mexico’s goals were absolute class.

Thanks for your hard work. I would expect the same thing from Torre today as yesterday and the whole past week, and I expect similar thing from Clemens as that from Pettitte yesterday. So, I’ll come back to your postgame report after Wang shall pitch tomorrow. See you and have a good night (and morning too?) sleep.

Just one comment. Under such temperature, it was unwise to have Clemens pitching beyond 80, (it will be fine for Wang, though, for he must have played all of his amateur games under similar temperature) especially after the jam in the bottom 5th. It’s a pitty. If Torre send in Proctor in the 6th and drop the game, I think people will feel less sorry. I have nothing to blame on Clement. I only have the highest respect to him for today’s performance.

    Melissa–that scream was me.

Is it Adam Dunn time yet?

You know we can get him.

I’d rather our lineup be Damon, Jeter, Arod, Dunn, Posada, Matsui and then let the rest of the bums (Cano, Abreu, Cabrera) battle it out to see who can bat 9th.

I’d take Dunn’s butchering at 1b at this point for some RBI’s and HR’s.

Dunn classic this generation yankee. absolutely 1 dimensional, plodder, can’t field, and strikes out a ton..

I have a answer NO NO NO NO, CAN WE BE DONE WITH SLUGS LIKE THAT, we already have the giambino and other guys who run like they have a piano on there back.. anyone who thinks the yanks need a guy like that knows nothing about baseball and will help continue this 7 yr run of sluggo baseball.

I know this yr. we no longer slug but we are mainly a streak hitting teeam…

no to dunn, hillebrand, or any other no field junk…

    Pete,

When will Cashman and the other brain surgeons address the media and be asked the real questions????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

  10. Seth June 28th, 2007 at 12:18 am

    Under these temperatures???

These guys have made a living playing in these temperatures. They know how to condition themselves.

Cmon Pete – don’t complain about the heat… you could lose to shed a few… unless you went to town on the press box buffet!

now I’m craving some Balmer crab cakes.

Yanks are done… seriously… not the end of the world… they need to make some trades and acquire some prospects (position players)… Wang and Hughes will be great at the front of the rotation for the next 5-7 yrs…

I say in September – trot Wang, Hughes, Joba, Pettite and Horne/Marquez/Clippard/Karstens – whoever deserves it most.

Dump Moose… maybe even Rocket to a contender? Trade Abreu and Damon… even if you get 50 cents on the dollar – do it.

Trade some relievers too – Farnsworth, Vizcaino, Myers (you’re telling me no one in baseball wants a lefty specialist?)… and give some minor league guys a shot to see what you have down there…

Give Britton a shot – give Edwar Ramirez a shot… let Sean Henn pitch in key spots…

    retool and reload…

loving the aggressive approach the Yanks are taking to “acquire” Shea. Another .254 hitter at first should certainly bolster the offense and bring this team around. God knows he’s a clubhouse charmer.

    Im psyched…who’s with me?

During the first Orioles game, I saw a guy selling hotdogs bigger than I’ve ever seen anywhere for $4.50 and I was just wondering:

How much does he make from each hotdog if anything, what’s his shift pay if he receives any, and you think people give him a $5 and tell him to keep the change for a half-dollar tip per dog? How many hotdogs you think he sells during a game? How are baseball game vendors in general paid? Shift pay + % of each item sold + tips or just shift pay and tips?

Yankee fan here, but I thought it was cool that the hotdog vendor was putting “Orioles” in their classic script with mustard on the dogs. Again, HUGE dogs he was selling -damn!

Gonna grab me some late night dogs hence my username THREE DOG NIGHT -I was too stressed out from watching the game to eat dinner, haha (or maybe not haha).
