I believe All-Star Game stats do not count for anything except All-Star Game stats. If you know what I mean. They don't get added to regular seasons stats or postseason stats or lifetime stats. I can't find a totally specific rule on this, but it's worth noting that at least one stat kept in the All-Star Game -- the winning pitcher -- follows different rules than it does in regular or postseason play (the starting pitcher can be credited with a Win even if he doesn't last 5 innings, which he never does).

On a related topic, although I'm not positive that I'm reading this right, I think that any stats compiled in the last 1.5 innings of this suspended game (or however long it takes to finish on July 27) will be counted as having occurred tonight, even though the actual deeds will not be done until July 27. So, if ARod gets another couple RBI in the top of the 8th, he will be considered to have earned them before the All-Star break, even though they will have actually happened after it. Not that it really matters. Here's the actual language:

"... all performances in the completion of a suspended game shall be considered as occurring on the original date of the game."

Chicago Dave:
I don't think that fly ball is difficult to catch for anybody. Even if they were far away due to the initial position and even if they think that they could not reach it, they can try to stop the ball. What Abreu did was to run slowly at the beginning and to slide at the end, and then he has to run after the bouncing ball.

BTW, I am from Taiwan, so basically all I care is whether Wang makes the final or not. I grew up watching Jays and Braves, not Yankees.

There was a female staff member--massager type person?--for some NL team. I forget which, but Keith Hernandez in his infinite wisdom made offensive comments about how a woman doesn't belong in the dugout.

Santana has nice long eyelashes with Brooke Shields eyebrows. His daughters look just like him (from father's day photo op)

Seriously, has there ever been a female player in the majors? ump?

Actually, I just found a picture of Santana's rookie card. He is a bit feminine.
