Ask Mariano Rivera your questions

He’s the greatest closer in the history of baseball and now he will answer your questions.
Mariano Rivera has graciously agreed to become the latest Yankee to take questions from readers of the LoHud Yankees Blog and The Journal News. He joins Derek Jeter and Jason Giambi.
It worked out so well with those two guys that it made sense to keep the feature going.
Here is how it works:
You have until Tuesday night to e-mail me one (1) question for Mariano. I will select the best 10 to ask him and on July 8, the blog will have the exclusive Q&A along with the audio of the interview. This will be a blog-only feature.
Please, if you already had a question asked of Jeter or Giambi, give somebody else a chance. I usually try and choose a mix of questions, so feel to submit anything that you’ve always wanted to ask Mo.

Peter Abraham

Thanks for the opportunity, Pete. Just would like to thank him
for 2 things—the countless, breathtaking miraculous moments he’s given me and others. And, the example of his persona that I call on when things look bleak, ie, How would Mo deal with such and such? Saying ‘thank-you’ isn’t a question, of course, but if given the chance, that’s what I’d like to do.
I’m only accepting e-mails. No questions here.
i don’t know if this has already been posted but, in both the game recap on espn and the one on yankees.com, posada is quoted as saying there are some guys “going through the motions.”
that’s too bad. it’s something o’neill and martinez hinted at earlier in the year, but it was easy to disregard those comments, as neither of those guys is in the clubhouse or on the field. posada, on the other hand, has a pretty good vantage point.
They need a manager who will kick butt, like Girardi.
here’s posada’s direct quote:
“I’m not talking about unlucky,” Posada said. “I just think luck comes when you go after it. It seems like, at times, we just go through the motions. Today is one of those cases. That’s the way it is. I think everybody knows what I’m talking about.”
Kasey-
I bet Posada was hinting at the fact that Abreu certainly looked to be phoning it in with 3 pitch strikeout in 8th inning with runners on 1st and 2nd.
CT_Chris,
could be. could be any number of guys or situations. what i know is that it does nothing to dispell the belief that some guys on this team are her for a paycheck and nothing else. sure, it’s probably that way everywhere, but it’s hard not to give up on the season when, evidtenlly, some of the guys in uniform have already done so.
wow. evidently. that’s what i meant to type.
Peter, do you know how this whole Scott Proctor lighting a fire near the infield will be handled?
I’ve never heard of this before.
“It doesn’t get any easier,” Damon said in referencing facing Dan Haren tomorrow.
I can’t believe he said is going to sleep on such negative thoughts towards tomorrow’s game. This is not a road to success. From my point of view he is preparing himself for failure. He should not worry about who they are facing tomorrow and just go out and play the game. In the end I guess it doesn’t really matter who the Yankee’s offense face, they will make them look like Koufax or Drysdale anyway.
Proctor should face no discipline at all. I think he is a decent pitcher but I know 1 thing he is one of the few who gives a FFFFFFFFFFFFFF about the team…
Ask Mariano why the club hates minor leaguers and likes to keep up and use overpaid and undermotivated old guys????
Ask him if he can get Kyle to throw at least 1 perfect inning before September….
BTW Britton had another 2 inning outing gave up a ton of zero’s but the guys we have on the big club are better!!!!!I also have some beachfront property for sale….......
Today’s game (June 30) reminds me of a scene from the movie “Major League” when one of the commentators during the game wrap-up said “One hit? We got one gxxdxxx hit!!?”
Pathetic!!
If Scotty cares so much about this team he should go out there and perform better than he has been. His emotions after the fact do nothing when the game is still lost and it means nothing once he’s in the dugout, show how much you care out on the field and lead by example.
Am I the only one who thinks it’s awesome that Scott Proctor lit his stuff on fire cause he was so mad at himself??? come on guys, even Paul O’Neill never did that!!
FWIW, the rumor mongerings:
Edwar Ramirez has been promoted.
take w/ a LARGE grain of salt. this is just message board stuff…
I was actually told that Edwar will be promoted… Their may be a Farns trade on the near….
I will believe it when I see it on Ramirez. I whould be happy if they DFA’d kyle, myers, villone, and nieves…..
start there and then go deeper if things do not get any better. It is not like any of these bums are in the futre plan, they are old, innefective, and overpaid.. Kyle is not old just terrible….
I read on another board that Ramirez is telling all of his friends and family that he has been called up. Peter any word on this?
good for ramirez. can he play 2B, LF, RF and hit? tough to hold a lead when you don’t score a run.
Mo,
My sister, Cindy and I would like to know if you will remain a Yankee when your contract ends? We would hate to see you leave home. Both of us love you for the person that you really are. Besides being the best closer ever in baseball history, you are also a kind & decent human being who loves his wife and family. You have compassion for humanity as well as the game.
Mo is really the best possible player you could’ve gotten Pete. Awesome news.
During the rain delay on Thursday, I noticed Mo did a segment on Yankees on Deck where he gave a tour of his steakhouse. I thought the bit was great and was surprised how well that show in general was put together. It seemed like a lot of the bit may have been pre-scripted, but you could tell Mo is a great guy, regardless.
Let’s go Yankees
