Is it time to try Steven White yet? Can’t be worse than Igawa as a starter.
Dump Farnsy, bring up Britton.
Dump Myers, bring up Henn or make Igawa a lefty reliever. He’d be good if teams saw him just one time through.
DL Damon, bring up Shelly Duncan, put him at 1B.

I agree with you SJ44. Sherman’s column was stupid and irresponsible.

I attended Saturday’s game and it appeared to be the least inspired game I’ve seen in a long time. Joe Torre says Abreu is embarassed about his play. I have to say I was embarassed watching his play. The same goes for Robinson Cano.

I’ve been attending games since ‘63 and this Yankee team looks a lot like the Horace Clake era teams. You always knew Roy White was busting it, but you were always wondering about the rest of the team.

One possible explanation for Myers reverse splits is the quality of batters he tends to face from each side. For lefties, he’s typically brought in to face the best lefty on a given team (e.g. Ortiz), whereas when he’s left in for righties they are usually lesser hitters. He’s rarely asked to pitch to a dangerous RH bat (e.g. Ramirez). I’m guessing here, but an interesting study would be to look at this more closely.

Michael Kay keeps saying that Guidry and Torre changed the way Myers is throwing by switching him on the opposite side of the rubber on the mound. So, apparently, that’s why right handers have a harder time facing him and lefties have an easier time hitting him.

My question is this: if the Yankees wanted more out of a lefty specialist in Mike Myers, why is he even on this team? There was no reason to start screwing around with his mechanics to try and turn him into a regular middle reliever. There’s a reason he’s only supposed to be in there to face lefties.

As for the rest of the bullpen, there’s really not a whole lot to be said…with the exception of Bruney and Proctor, I think everyone in there is expendable if we can get anything in return as the deadline nears closer.
