Look for someone to be traded from the bullpen; i.e. myers or farns. I think Shelley Duncan will be called up, even if he still has holes in his swing. We are going to need a bench player whether A-Rod goes on the DL or not. So Cairo mans third, A-Rod DH’s, I think Phillips will be at 1st which means Damon will have to sit. I think Damon should sit because he can play outfield and first base. Phillips can fill-in at some of the positions. It’s going to be interest to see what the lineup looks like.

Well, now we get to see if all A-Rod haters were right. . . will the Yankees play better without A-Rod in the lineup? The haters have been quiet this year, but they’ve got their wish: that gritty gamer Miguel Cairo will be manning the hot corner. If anything, fellow Yankee fans, this will a preview of next year’s A-Rod-less line up.

And Peter, what agent worth his salt would allow their client to play hurt for an extended period of time in a contract year? Sure, guys who play hurt tend to make sportswriters feel faint (until they start “hurting the team,” then those same people turn on them), but ownership tends to use a “down year” as an excuse to lowball players during contract negotiations. There’s no bonus for being a “gamer.”
