My dad, my brother-in-law Brian, my brother-in-law Dave and assorted friends all had the same question today: What were ESPN and MLB thinking? Three hours for the Home Run Derby?
I might have watched “The Bronx is Burning” if it was on 10 p.m. like it was supposed to be. I don’t get it, ESPN beats us over the head with ads for an eight-part miniseries then starts the first installment an hour late.
For Home Run Derby? Please, more sharp analysis of guys swinging from their heels. More biting interviews and shots of guys swinging in the cage. Was there a point to any of that?
It’s not complicated. Six players, one round of 15 swings, top four advance. Then 15 more swings and top two advance, then 15 swings.
I can’t imagine how tedious it must have been for the fans at the park.
OK, back to vacation. Glad to see you back, SJ44.
