And Boston is only worried about improving themselves for the postseason. NY is just a distant sight in their rear-view mirror.

Dude, things in your mirror are closer than they appear. 7 games back and a full 2 months to play. Here's how Boston can improve for the postseason....buy every player a nice recliner and a keg of beer.....see ya...LOSER !!!

sunny: what kind of tantrum? why?

Andrea -
Beckett was thumping the coolers and pushing and throwing them around because of his poor outting. He was severely pissed. Youk was sitting behind him (the coolers were up by the rails) and he quickly bolted when Beckett started throttling them. Funny stuff.

Jose Contreras was in his vintage form tonight. He showed us why exactly it is that we traded him a few years back. This game was great. 8 home runs, it was fun to watch. I know I have said this before, but Joe really needs to think about play Shelly in a few games coming up. Im thinking tomorrow with a lefty going. I dont want him to start every single day but it would make some sense to do this: Shelley takes over the DH role tomorrow, sitting Abreu (who is red hot but looks lost against lefties)and putting Damon in right or you just sit Johnny. I mean, the guy just hits homer after homer when he gets in there. I think he could help the team if you gave him some spot starts. Also, a present surprise, Krazy Kyle did not try to kill Jorgie tonight AND on top of that threw his 5th 1-2-3 inning. Maybe he can turn it around. A-Rod looks like he is ready to explode. Maybe he will hit homers 500 thru 502 tomorrow

CB,
You see that Whelan pitched tonight for Trenton. More domination, 2 0 0 0 1 4. Last two appearances he has been nasty, 4 0 0 0 1 8
I hope he keeps it up and gets to Scranton for a little bit at the end of August.
