Caught Squeeze and Fountains of Wayne tonight at the Beacon Theater. Great show. Three original members are touring – Chris Difford, Glenn Tillbrook and John Bentley. Jools Holland and Gilson Lavis are touring with another group.

This is the first time they’re touring since I believe 1999. The last time I saw them, Aimee Mann was with them for a few songs. But she wasn’t there tonight, unfortunately. Or Elvis Costello, another of their pals.

I didn’t keep a setlist but they did pretty much all of their hits and closed with “Black Coffee in Bed.” Difford and Tillbrook are very talented and still sound great. Squeeze was a very underrated band, I always thought.

They’re playing in Jersey on Saturday and Monday, so go check them out. Here’s a list of tour dates.

I believe I am finished with 1980s British bands for the time being. With any kind of luck, those rumors of a Springsteen tour this fall will prove true.

I’ll post the lineups from the Stadium tomorrow morning and blog at you all game. Catch you then.
