If he really has a 98 MPH fastball which sometimes hits 100, and a wicked slider then I don't care who he is facing, he will be successful. Even at the big league level batters aren't very good facing that.

That the Yanks did, Jabba Jr. but the real first things first is Joba has to pitch well enough to stay up here. This is what has to be the predominany thought. I could care less if he strikes out 20 in 15 IP if he also gives up 23 hits, walks 13, serves up 3 HR, and allows 10 ER. It's one thing to be called up, it's another to be good enough to stay up. I hope Joba never gets sent back down i.e. he's is so good sending him back down isn't a thought. I/ we all wish that for all callups. We'll see.

I wouldn't be suprised if he had a first M.L.B. inning like Edwar Ramirez had (side struck out), but I wouldn't be suprised if he was rocked for 4 hits and 2-3 runs in 1/3, 2/3, or 1 IP either. This is M.L.B., another animal altogether. I'd be content with a grounder, a fly ball, and a pop up, and 15 pitches. It's just as good as 3 K.

Also, his three appearances in AAA produced the following:

First start: 5.0 ip, 4 hits, 1 walk, 0 runs, 10 Ks

First appearance from BP: 1.0 ip, 0 hits, 0 runs, 3 Ks

Second appearance from BP: 2.0 ip, 0 hits, 0 runs, 5 Ks

His dominance was not only in A and AA; it followed him into AAA as well.

True test tonight,

There's only one way to see is Joba can live up to the hype, and the Yankees took that step in calling him up.

Joba is a name, alot of hype, and great stats against mostly A and AA hitters until he proves he isn't.

Joba is nothing but a name, alot of hype, and great stats against mostly A and AA hitters until he proves he isn't.

Russ Johnson, Alex Rios, Vernon Wells, Frank Thomas & Lyle Overbay et.al. are not A and AA hitters. Neither are the Indians or rest of the A.L.

With that said, here's to the start of a hopefully long, solid Yankee career for Joba!

I heard Bruney only has one option left. Cairo does have a slight hamstring tweak so he could be DLed.

"I am not sure what they are doing with Bruney. I think he still has options."

Pretty sure he does, which is good. Bruney I don't want to give up on. I hope they get a nice lead today so that they can let Joba get his feet wet and then have Karstens mop up.
