If someone takes offense at what I said, doesn't bother me. Just look up "football hooliganism" in wikipedia. Sure lots of fans are okay and soccer can be a good game to watch once in a while. I confess to watching Manchester United games the last two years because I quit watching the NBA, NHL and NFL years ago (last NBA: Jordan's last championship. Last NFL: Rams vs Patriots super bowl, last NHL some Devils playoff game four years ago). The lack of commercials and cross-marketing in a FSC broadcast are a revelation. But in all the ESPN generated hype about Beckham, I won't ignore the fact worldwide soccer has also brought death, injuries and destruction.

Bleacher Creature, that actually WAS an isolated incident. Hundreds of thousands of soccer matches take place around the world each year. Regardless of what you've heard, murder is not part of the typical gameday experience.

Besides, the actions of a crazed fan has nothing to do with the sport itself. By that logic, you should want the NFL banned from America as well since in that sport it's the actual participants that are committing the murders.

How do I know how many people have been murdered cause of a game. I know for sure a couple of years ago Some Dodger fans stabbed and killed a Giants fan in the parking lot in LA and just last week some nutso Mets fan killed his mom and dad cause the Mets lost the game. What I'm saying about it being the number one sport in the world is that there's a much bigger pool for crazy to happen. It should not mean that it's a bad sport that attracts crazies. If anything it's just a reflection of society. Millions of fans go to watch these games without incident and the bad things that do happen shouldn't scare people away from the game itself.

That's great news about Joba. I'll be at tomorrow night's game against the Blue Jays, so hopefully he comes out of the pen for the 7th!
