The Yankees did not feel one game was worth taking a player off the 25-man and 40-man rosters to bring up Ian Kennedy. Beyond that, they owed Karstens a shot. He’s also not some bum, he had a very good spring training and an 0.92 ERA in six rehab starts in the minors." If they felt they owed him something, maybe they could have given him a check. He's had no fastball command in either of his long "relief" appearances and it was completely obvious that he would alternate giving up walks and blasts at this level until he got it straightened out. He should have been down after his first long appearance against the White Sox. Kennedy should have started tonight. Brower, Reese, Basak and Thompson wouldn't have been missing from the Yankee present or future if they got DFA's for Kennedy. The obvious move would have been DFA Brower for Kennedy and send Karstens to the minors for Edwar. His BABIP was extremely low last year. The correction came this season. And Pete, if you want us to respect you as a sports journalist you can't let your personal feelings get in the way of unbiased reporting by defending Karstens. He is simply not a good pitcher. Still, we can not win them all and there will be some losses like this. Our goal is to win series and we still have a chance to do that. Sure Bedard is very good. He still lost 4 games and has an ERA of 3.11. Yanks could be the ones giving him his 5th loss. Even if do not win tomorrow, it is not the end of the world and we will still make it to the playoffs.
