Question- the info posted here about Britton doesn't match what I've read elsewhere; you guys say he's fastball/slider at 91 mph. Other reports said he was fastball/curveball at 94 mph that looks like 96 because of a little deception in his delivery -his belly hides the ball :-)
Anyone know the facts for certain?

Why hasn’t anybody mentioned AA pitcher Scott Patterson? He is pitching lights out (0.99 ERA, 77K, 13BB, 63.2 IP) which are comparable numbers to Ian Kennedy (1.87 ERA, 150K, 48BB, 134 IP) He is 28 yrs old, and probably more seasoned. He would make a good long relief pitcher for the yankees. Does anyone have any comments?

@38disasters.com:

I think you're being a little harsh on Olney. He's just sticking to his original picks, that's all - he doesn't deny that the Yankees are sizzling hot of late and are clearly on the upswing.

Let's be honest - the Yankees still have a shaky bullpen (Farnsworth? Villone? Ramirez and Henn are still unknown entities), and the starting pitching is certainly aging (Mussina and Clemens haven't been at their best this year). It's entirely foreseeable that the Yankees miss out on the playoffs, although the likelihood has fallen dramatically over the past few weeks.

I think he's starting to realize his preseason picks were wrong, but he doesn't want to abandon them as a matter of habit. Whatever, it doesn't really matter what his picks are; but he knows the Yankees are a significantly improved team and has been stating as much in his blog entries.

Olney knows the Yankees. Not as much as Peter or Sweeny Murti might, but he knows the Yankees. Read more than just his chat transcripts.

The more I read from NY beat writers (Peter, Kepner, Sweeny) the more I absolutely detest everything out of Olney's mouth.

ESPN doesn't know NY. Period. I agree with your Olney comment 38disasters.

i have a problem with olney sticking by his picks. the teams have changed, situations change. when he picked his projections the yankees had no clemens, no hughes, no chamberlain, pavano was going to the doctor, and igawa was our 5th starter. things change, trades are made, people get injured. i think hes a fool for sticking to his picks just because he chose them in the beginning of the season and doesn't want to look like a flip flopper.

LOL Steve Phillips.
What else is new?

That I think is even DUMBER than Melky for Gag-me he proposed a while ago.

I can't believe an idiot like him gets paid as an analyst. ESPN should hire me instead. I might not know a lot of baseball, but at least I won't be making stupid suggestions like Hughes for Santana, or let A-rod walk, or Melky/Kennedy for Gag-me. And I'm cheap. I'll ask for $10,000 per year only.

Where can we put money down on things like “Jim Brower on the other end of a Jose Offerman bat-attack somewhere in the independent leagues next year?

Good riddance.

-Chill out dude. The guy has been pitching for a long time and he just had a baby. Maybe he's got a lot on his mind...

" We Want Britton and swo—
Don’t get so down on the B’s, they’ve helped us in the past!

Y’know, like *B*abe, *B*ucky, *B*uckner, *B*oone….

(by that logic, this year’s october hero? Wilson Betemit!) "

In 2004 , we had *B*ubba Crosby. Too bad that didn't workout for us - probably because he didn't even play in the ALCS. *B*ubba would have been a very fitting name to add to the list.
