Record bonus for Brackman

The $3.3 million bonus to Andrew Brackman would a team record for a draft pick. Still waiting for Brian Cashman to confirm the deal.

The Yanks are 2-4 against Baltimore since the break, 26-8 against everybody else. Baltimore is 27-23 under Dave Trembley. With their pitching, they’re a few hitters and a closer away from being a very solid team.

Andy Phillips is 3 of his last 27 and is now hitting .273. He has one RBI in his last 10 games. Wilson Betemitm Shelley Duncan and maybe even Jason Giambi will be knocking on that door soon.

Hideki Matsui is up to .299 but hasn’t had an RBI in the last five games.

Thanks to everybody who checked in today. I am headed to see my family this weekend, a little R&R before a nine-day road trip and three games at tthe Stadium against the Red Sox. It’s always good to get some time off before the pennant race really kicks into gear.

Plus it’s my niece’s 7th birthday and I have to be there for that, if only to serve the tequila and talk to the cops when they come.

The blogging will continue, however. I’ve made arrangements to get the lineups and those will be posted along with any other bits of news.
