Today in The Journal News
Mike Mussina was “awful” as the Yankees were pounded by the Angels. Garret Anderson had 10 RBI for Los Angeles.
Phil Hughes was too wild on Monday night. But Joe Torre thought he was competitive.
Alex Rodriguez is chasing Babe Ruth. This notebook also has updates on Wilson Betemit, a souvenir still adrift, Bartolo Colon and Joe Torre’s thoughts on an excitable California primate.

Not quite the future yet, Pete:
Report: Ex-clubhouse attendant revealed names of clients to Mitchell
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/.....id=2985349
Frank:
That’s guy’s credibility can (and will be) questioned. He’s basically a rat looking for a softer sentence. Beyond that, let’s wait and see whether the names actually come out.
Good Morning Peter.
Excellent work as always.
Must win tonight!
Peter see if you can arrange for Moose to get a really bad paper cut from the NY Times (sorry for mentioning another paper) crossword puzzle.
How does talking to Mitchell affect his sentence?
It doesn’t.
Just cause you missed the story, then predicted that it passed – no need to get all defensive. I wonder who he’s going to name on the Mets…
other than a few starts , moose has been terrible all season long . maybe he needs to adjust to his age like glavine and a few other older pitchers have done . i dont know otherwise . moose seems pretty stubborn to me . i dont know if he has it in him to change .
i knew moose was gunna get killed last night . i also feel the yanks are gunna get swept .
i feel this yankee team is the third best in the al and maybe mlb . i feel they match up pretty good against the redsox but fail miserably against the angels which most likely would be the yanks opening round opponent if the yanks took the wild card .
I’m pretty sure this isn’t the way Mike Mussina wants to close out his career – anyone think he will retire?
Hey, maybe Bret Saberhagen can take Moose’s turn in the rotation.
Annie,
I think Moose will be one of those guys who just can’t get it through his head that he’s not good anymore. He’ll just keep making excuses.
