Surgery set for Brackman

The estimable George King of the Post reported today that RHP Andrew Brackman will need Tommy John surgery according to his agent, Scott Boras.

This is what many people expected given Brackman’s problems at the end of his college season. The Yankees were not allowed to exam him before the draft or before they signed him but they took him regardless.

It was the same way with Humberto Sanchez. They’d rather wait for a better player to get healthy then take lesser talent that can play immediately.

I’d also like to point out what an idiot I am. I saw Boras outside the clubhouse yesterday and we chatted for a few minutes about other players and I forgot to ask about Brackman.
