What an exciting game!! Pete, I love your blog! Andy Pettitte is the MAN!!! We know when he’s out there, we’ll get a solid performance. Then, Joba in the 8th and Mo in the 9th. Wow. It just doesn’t get much better than that. I feel bad for Mussina, but it was time. We can’t take any chances now. Happy to Jeter’s homer, and hope he can get healthy soon. He gives his all. Damon’s heating up at just the right time! Go Johnny!! I love watching the guys in the dugout laughing and joking around. And, I’m sorry, but that damn squirrel was hilarious!! Hopefully, he got himself a peanut or two after everyone left.

Next year will be exciting, but I’m focused on now. We have what it takes, but we don’t have much time left, and sadly, part of what we’re depending on is other people losing, but I have faith!!

Some less acquainted with the entire career of Mariano Rivera may make reference to his obtaining “another pitch,” wouldn’t he be even better if he could do it. In Joel Sherman’s book, “Birth of a Dynasty,” he relates Bob Wickman predicting in 1996 that Rivera would never last because he had only 1 pitch. It’s a hackneyed idea. Rivera is like no else to begin with. Some pitchers from smaller markets may feel they’re deprived of the bright lights under which Rivera has pitched. But you stick some of these whiners in a big game, and they cave in under the pressure. Other people can learn all the pitches they want–they’ll never have the mind and heart of Rivera.

It is always sad to see a professional like Mussina struggle as he has, but the name of the game is about winning.

Buck Showalter said “the fans don’t come out to see the Yankees play, they come out to see them win.

The Yanks haven’t won a world championship since signing Mussina in 2001.

I wish the best for “Moose” but applaud the Yanks gutsy decision to start Kennedy. It’s one helluva call…best of luck Ian!

frits, I don’t know about innings but I read he has about 3 until he gets to his innings cap.
