Hey, Pete-
Kennedy has thrown 146 innings this year and is just a year older than Chamberlain. Do they Yankees not have the same concern about his arm? How many innings would they want him to throw this year? Isn't he right around his ideal limit?

I have a feeling Kennedy is going to get knocked around. I'm not so sure about this move, but I guess its the best option given the alternatives (White, Moose, Igawa).

Hey Pete: Any word on how many innings Kennedy is allowed pitch? He pitched 102 in college last year and has hit 146 professional innings this year. I'm sure the Yankees have a set plan for how much work he can get.

BTW, for all of the "sick of innings caps" folks, just by promoting Kennedy at this stage and commtting to 1-2 starts the Yankees are already committed to not babying him. He's going to get at least 50 more innings this year than last year. That's a significant jump and he's going to do it in a high pressure situation. Whatever cap the Yankees use is very reasonable.

Oy. Joba with just 2 pitches ? What was the slow wrinkle he threw a few times tonight at 85 mph ? They call that a curveball in most circles. That's the pitch Lowell hit for a soft liner to left. I haven't seen the changeup yet, I don't think, but I've only caught about half his innings live.

Patrick Bateman: HELLO?!! Joba is NOT "working on" two other pitches to get them up to speed. What do you think he was using while he was a SP in the minors and and mowing down lineups? Two pitches? WRONG!! Joba throws four pitches for STRIKES right now. Relievers don't need to pull out four pitches -- they go for the quick kill as they will not be facing batters again in that game.

Get your facts straight. All you'd really need to do is actually read what Joba has said in his interviews.

I don't know how good this Kennedy kid is going to be. Frankly, the Yankees have been pretty lucky with young pitching prospects succeeding so far. Just 'cause Chamberlain has pitched 10 great innings doesn't necessarily mean that this team can rely on youth to take them to the playoffs. That aside, I hope he works out.

Just saw this. Good news! Moose has nothing left. Maybe he can be the pitching coach one day.

Good luck to Ian.
