Working on the mobile blog (and other stuff)
Blog headquarters has been getting a lot of e-mails from people who access the site on their mobile devices.
Apparently there have been a few glitches lately, especially with iPhones.
The tech guys at the paper know about it and are working to correct it. Which will be good, because I plan to get an iPhone so I can do a little blogging from the clubhouse from time to time.
So if you’re having problems, hopefully they’ll be fixed soon. Thanks for your patience.
Meanwhile, a few other matters:
Questions: Now that we’re getting 1,000+ comments on the game threads, it’s hard for me to review them all. If you have some sort of question, it would probably be better to e-mail me.
I respond to most of my e-mails within a few days.
Trolls: I think we’ve mopped up most of them. If somebody is obscene or doing something else stupid, please contact me. Be warned, trolls, Jennifer is keeping an eye on you.
Suggestions: If you have any ideas to make this blog better, by all means contact me. I’m working on setting up another reader Q&A with a player. I want to save Brian Cashman until the winter.
Charity: Once the season is over and I get a chance to work on this, we’re going to do something for charity. The paper has volunteered to set-up a get-together at a bar in Westchester and I’d like that to also serve as a fundraiser. I’m hoping to work with the Yankees on this somehow.
I’m thinking of a hot-stove get together in January perhaps. Have a few beverages, talk baseball, etc. We also could do something in Manhattan as well.
As always, thanks for reading and being a part of this.

Q&A with Joba please.
And I’m sure you’ve received plenty of complaints already, but get your boys in “Blog Headquarters” to add an editing feature! It would be worth having to sign up for an account to post, so that we could get an edit!
pete the mobile site is working again. Typing on my iPhone now, I will say though if you want a phone to blog from in the club house, iPhoneay not be the best, the keyboard is decent yes, but because you cant feel the keys you can’t ever type while looking elsewhere and it may be annoying.
On one of your days off next year, we could have a Lohud-Bloggers day at the park (complete with tailgating).
a lohud gathering would be really cool. lately, i’ve been visiting your blog more than any other website! even digg!
have fun with the future iphone, but keep your eyes peeled for the new ipod on sept 5th!
Peter, Could you tell Wang I hope He can get 16th win for
my colleague Liu Ming ? Because Miss Liu is Wang’s loyal fan,and Thursday (Friday in Taiwan) is her birthday‧She tell me that Wang’s win will be the best present for her‧
sweet i was wondering why i couldnt access the site from my iPhone i felt so lost when im not at home watching the game.
I think a win from Wang would be the best present for me too and it’s not even my birthday. We need Wang solid down the stretch and he gave us the only solid start last weekend in Detroit and I know he’s got it in him to give us more.
I don’t post alot of comments, but I read your blog a hundred times a day. I just wanted to thank you and let you know that your making the season a lot more fun. Your blog has become the one of the most valuable reads to Yankee fans. THANK YOU AND DON’T STOP.

Count me in for the charity get-together! Maybe it can be a fundraiser for Mussina if they DFA him.
If you want to set something up for spring training, too. I’d even drive up to Tampa, Peter (unless you want to do something here in Boca).
;>)
Count me in for the Westchester fundraiser in January. We can discuss how much the Yankees will have to give up to pry grumpy Johan away from the Twins.;)
One of the guys from Blog Central here (sort of — I just help out with stuff like this whenever possible) …
As already pointed out, I got the mobile version of the blog working for iPhones again last night. I’m still trying to implement yet another version specifically optimized for iPhones (the mobile one is great on regular cell phones, but it’s almost too stripped down for the iPhone, I think), but that will require more rejiggering. At any rate, you shouldn’t get that iPhone error message any more — on this or any of the LoHud Blogs.
Incidentally, Peter, in addition to commenting via the mobile interface, you can even make posts to the blog that way, too. Give me a holler if you want a primer on how to do it. tcmann@lohud.com
I’m in for the Hot Stove get-together. I’m twitching from baseball withdrawal by then so it would be a great time to do the gathering. The Charity angle is nice too. (Beer, fried mozzarella and a tax deduction). Outstanding.
A winter fundraiser event would be great. I live north and east of Westchester (for safety reasons, let’s just say a secure location in northern New England) but I grew up in LoHud country in the Fritz Peterson-Mike Kekich era, and would willingly make a pilgrimage for a get-together in these happier times. I suspect I am not alone.
Peter,
good idea on the get=together. However some of us live away, in other states. How about your teck guys setting up a live webcam? at least that way we could watch and be part of it.
rockin’ rich,
you came up with a good idea. let’s us Florida people get together in Tampa next spring.
Two wishes for those of us on blackberry – 1) a way to get to the last page of comments without having to go page by page and 2) NOT going back to the main blog page after posting a comment. It would be easier to navigate then!
rico,
A-Rod with an alleged girlfriend was considered news these days. I wonder how the Fritz Peterson-Mike Kekich family relationship would go down these days.Oh well, the Yankees always have been pioneers in baseball
I’m up for the charity dinner as well. Sounds ilke it would be fun!
my iPhone works now. Thanks for the tweaks
People with I Phones, Blackberries, etc are way too connected.
I want to be disconnected away from work.
Q + A with either moose , the farns or joba would be great . moose and the farns just for laughs though .
Ed FL
In ’72 ARod’s pecadillo would never have been news. In ’07, the Kekich-Peterson manage would be a “reality” show.
. . . on YES.
oops… menage.
Hey, a Wang victory today would be a great present for all of us fanatics! Go C.M. and dah Yanks!!!!!!
there is a great yankee bar in hoboken NJ that would be really cool for a get together.
Hey Pete,
The fundraiser sounds like a great idea. Keep us posted with what will become of it.
just a few thoughts …
molina will be in the line-up today . i wonder if giambi will be playing first today ? at least joba will be available for today’s game . so much stuff going on today . i’m sure schilling will bring his A-game .
A fundraiser is a great idea. It will also let us connect the faces to the names.
Pete,
I’m with rockin rich and Ed….
Count me in if you decide on a spring training get together in Tampa. I have a place near there and make at least one game per spring.
Sounds like we might have enough people for a Lohud Blog Southern Command!
Great game. Would someone please drive Steve Phillipshead screwdriver & Chris (I know nothing)Russo out of town. Two sour grapes losers pontificating on the Yanks
based on nothing but personal venom. No other town would put up with the likes of Russo.
Pete – that would be great, considering Joba’s life story, maybe an event to sponsor Little League or the Boys Club…
http://www.nydailynews.com/spo....._joba.html
Yeah a drinkathon might be a good idea…
You think your tech people could set up a chatroom feature, so we can have an “espn type chat session” once a week or so?
Q+A with Joba is a great idea, and charity dinner is a better one.
Jonathon, what is the name of the baf in hoboken??
*bar!!!!
Peter-Remember when like 7 guys would chat back and forth during games? Oh, the good old days. How far we have come….1000+ comments per game. Congrats Peter. This blog has grown so much. Its all because of your good work, inside info and honesty. I love checking in. I love hearing un-edited audio and then hearing how they butcher the same clip on ESPN so it fits whatever angle they are going for on that certain story. Keep up the great work Peter Abraham.
Lori I second your comment about blackberry and the comments i dont even bother to read them as the idea of going through dozens of pages is a tad frustrating.
Yankees finish off a weary and Manny-less Boston team with the 3rd game of the Sweep, as the Wanger shows us that he has it together. Yankees win 9-1. You can print that ! Have a great day, ALL !
how about a get together where we all pound some beers and curse curt schilling
The biggest problem I have reading the blog on my treo, is that it’s too frustrating to read the comments without being able to jump to a later page. There shoul at least be a link to go to the page of the most recent comments.
Anyone know some good bars in nyc to watch the game (besides Stan’s)? I had tickets and then at the last minute they bailed on me… i am crushed to say the least, but i need to support them with suds in hand… thanks all!
peter a-
could you invite kyle so we can all throw pizza at him. what’s he going to do charge the blog. we could take him.
Pete — a winter get-together in whatever form sounds great! Now, if I can just make the flight from Asia to NY, I’ll be set. Would love to meet the person who pretty much single-handedly made watching the Yanks 16X more fun! How does it feel to have impacted so many lives in a good way?
Thanks, Pete. iPhone up and working.
Lets do it at ‘The Stadium’on Rt 9a,inGarrison,(I think)Great place, sort of a mini HOF.

Blaaah!!
Mel,
Yeah, Flo was a little loose.
put me down for beers in west chester!
LoHud gathering? … “worlds collide”!!
Ed Fl: Sounds great for a Spring Training get-together. Hope Peter will be able to make it, too!
Working on the requests re: easier navigation of the comments on the mobile interface. It’s a bit out of my area of expertise, but I’ll be sure to let you all know if we can figure out how to program that.
