Youkilis: It doesn’t look good
Here’s what Kevin Youkilis had to say:
“You know, two balls going over somebody’s head at 98 mph, I don’t know. I didn’t see any other pitches going that far out of the strike zone. Those balls were pretty close to the head. There were a couple of nods here and there. Who knows what it really meant? Ask him what his intent was. He’s going to probably tell you he didn’t mean to throw those. It’s one of those things where only one person, or maybe a couple people on their team know.
“That’s the second time. Scott Proctor hit me in the head. Coincidence? I don’t know. It doesn’t look good. When two balls go at your head and the guy has a zero ERA and is around the strike zone pretty good, any man is going to think there’s intent to hit him in the head.”

Does anyone here think that the pitches that Joba threw over Youkilis’ head has anything to do with the fact that A-rod was hit earlier in the series and then in the bottom of the 8th the red sox pitcher threw at pitch near Andy Phillips head?
whatever, jerk !
If he thinks those balls were “close” to his head, he needs glasses.
They were nowhere near his head. Geez, both pitches hit the ad boards on the fly. If they were “close” to his head, there is no way those pitches hit the ad boards on the fly.
He’s the biggest whiner in the game.
Its funny, Arod gets hit by Red Sox pitching every series and doesn’t say a word.
This guy is crying over pitches that are nowhere near him.
Just shut up and play before he ends getting drilled just for being a whiner.
waaaaaaaaa waaaaaaaaaaaaaa
It’s not Joba’s fault his head is the size of Jupiter. It would be nice if one of the pitches actual hit him so he’d have an actual reason to cry.
The argument that Joba’s great control is proof that he was trying to hit Youkilis in the head doesn’t work. If he has great contol, wouldn’t he have been able to hit Youkilis in the head? Rather, he either lost the ball, or he was trying to throw way up on Youkilis, which is completely allowed.
he should have drilled him in the ribs and avoided the tossing. Good for this kid for not being such a p@ssy like every other yankee pitcher, minus clemens. i really like him more and more every day. JJJOOOOOOOOBAAAAAA!!
I’ve heard the facts, and the verdict is in:
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!
Ms. Youkilis, stop being a loud-mouthed, plate-crowding weenie.
Professor Clemens is doing his job with young Joba. You gotta love it.
There is finally someone in the Bronx for the opposition to fear. God help the next team to plunk Jeter. They’ll get a Joba heater in the ribs.
This will not end nice. Look for more cr@p from Boston pitchers next series, especially since they’ll be home.
It’ll be a typical Yankee gets hit, no warnings, then Yankee hits Red Sox, they cry, yankee gets tossed, Yankees get beaned, no Sox get tossed.
Just your everyday Boston bawlbaby using the blame game. Youkilis needs some cheese for his whine.
DID THE BIG BABY GET HIS FEELINGS HURT? AWH!!! BUILT LIKE A WRESTLER WHINES LIKE A YELLOW BREASTED SAP SUCKER!!!
Kazmir’s getting rocked. Three runs in, 2 men on, 0 outs, bottom of the 1st.
NOW I would rill him in the back if I were Joba. Youk is just engaging in psychological warfare, trying to use passive-aggressiveness to keep power pitchers from throwing him in. It is a little girly man trick.
Youkilis is rapidly rising on the list of the game’s most irritating players. With all of his complaining, he’s turning into the Tim Duncan of baseball. One of these days a pitcher might get tired of Youkilis’s act and it could get ugly.
Ok I just saw the video. Joba’s control is outstanding, in fact, if he wanted to hit him, he could have, easily. However, two pitches in a row? Let’s be frank, it’s pretty clear that Joba was trying to send a message.
You know what, I don’t have a problem with what Youkilis said either. He didn’t call him out or anything. He knows that he’ll be facing Joba for years to come and it’s best not to pick a fight with a guy with a 100 mph fastball. The Red Sox would be best served just to pretend it never happenned.
Who else is paying way too close attention to the Seattle game?
If I could cherry pick one of their players it would be Youk (I hate old school Josh) hes real good, anyway listening to weei right know, so good they jumping of the bridge. Tomorrow when they wake up they’ll remember there still up 5 and feel better. there killing joba calling him sloba (the announcers not the callers) say hell be fat wish youk had hit a liner to jobas nuts. there also complaining about the payroll. well im going to go watch sharpova rock that red dress.
Rebecca,
I’m watching it now, and if it comes down to the wire, we need to have separate game threads for Seattle/Tiger games that aren’t being played at the same time as the Yankees.
youkilis sucks and is a big baby, same goes with manny ramirez pulling his traditional late season “injury”
the sox are garbage, the only thing that would have made this sweep better is if gagne was brought in to pitch so we could have tacked on about 5-6 more runs
In the words of Jerry Seinfeld:
“Ah, that’s a shame.”
Proctor didn’t hit him in the head. What a tool. Go change your diaper and get your mama to give you your pacifier.
mel: That’s exactly what I was thinking!
Youk just to let you know the game is not always about you. Stop whining and crying and shut up!!! Does he want Arod to cry to Dice K wanting to know if him getting hit in the ribs was on purpose??!! Also watching on ESPN while Tavarez explains to Dice K how to hit someone and knock them off the plate. Enough already…I also remember Jeter getting hit in the head a year or 2 ago by either Shelling or Timlin and he did not say 1 word. So learn to shut up.
Woo 2-0 Cleveland!
2-0 Indians in the second, man on second, two out.
It seems on this blog people love to see others get hit by pitches. IMO, it is the stupidest part of baseball. As I said earlier, if one of those fastballs had hit Youkillis in the head, his life would have been permanentley changed, or he would have been dead. It is fuc*ing nonsense.
3-0!
I guess this is the “Seattle Mariners at Cleveland Indians game thread.”
Horatio’s road woes (thankfully) continue.
3-0!!!
Josh, I’ll see that Woo, and raise you a Woo-Hoo !!!
3-0.
mel: Well, seeing as it’s the most recent post, it makes sense!
Whoever thought Yankees fans would be rooting for the Indians?
all this means is some yankee player – probably somebody valuable – is going to get hit next time they square off. let’s hope whoever it is doesn’t get hurt.
the rest of it is just stupid.
let’s move on to the next series.
Those pitches were completely unneccessary and just dangerous. You could kill the guy with that. Can’t wait till Rodriguez takes one in the head and sits out for a bit.
This has been a great day from a Yankee perspective, everything has been going right.
Yankee players get hit in every Red Sox series and say nothing. Anything close to this guy and he is whining.
This is the classic case of deflection.
What better way NOT to talk about getting swept than by trying to get into the head of a 21 year old kid you can’t hit.
Just because the kid’s locker is next to Roger Clemens, doesn’t make him a headhunter.
Youkilis keeps whining, he’s going to end up getting drilled just to teach him a lesson.
At some point, just shut up and play. If he can’t do that, and this talk continues leading up to the next series, then drill him the next time you face him and let him know THAT was a purpose pitch. That will shut him up for good.
It must be tough for the Red Sox. Proctor, Myers, Chase Wright and Karstens aren’t around to hit and they just got their butts handed to them.
The key now is for the Yankees to keep this going. Can’t fall in love with the sweep, then get beat by the DRays.
Big start for Hughes tomorrow night. Its time he steps up and gives them a big outing at home. They need it.
dontfirecash,
What happened to your new handle?
btw, by the end of the day there’s a good possibility that we’ll be tied with the Mariners in the loss column.
Cash, Unless he was a foot taller than Yao Ming, he wasn’t going to get hit with those pitches. They were nowhere near him.
Its nonsense we are even talking about it. It takes away from the sweep.
to dontfirecash
If by Youkilis’ life being permanently changed you mean he would whine less or stop being so ugly, I’m all for it.
You didn’t get hit, so shut up and stop crying about it. Boston is a team that always needs to create something to get themselves going.
i’m paying attention to seattle; they are down 3-0
It’s not like those pitches were too close, he didn’t even have to get out of the way. Both of them kind of sailed right by him. So he needs to shut his trap and then they can do whatever the Red sox feel is necessary the next time they play.
Personally I’m glad he dusted him. All the Sox players are way to comfortable in the box.
more from weei, the umpires and mlb conspire against the red sox
Youk said Proctor hit him in the head. I don’t remember him ever going to the hospital. I remember someone almost hitting him twice and he hit the deck twice. There were 2 games in a row where Youkilis was the target, can someone refresh my memory?
Just because you got off to the best start in baseball does not make you the best team. Beating up on the White Sox, who have obviously quit, also does not make you the best team in baseball. They are upset that they don’t have an AA pitcher facing them this time. The Sox pitching staff serves up BP to Yankee hitters, and they don’t know how to respond.
It’s tough not to look ahead but the pitching match-ups for the Seattle series look to be in the Yankee favor.
Game 1: Clemens vs. Felix Hernandez (Can be an Ace when he wants to be)
Game 2: Wang vs. Horacio Ramirez
Game 3: Hughes vs. Jarrod Washburn (Somehow this guy gave us trouble last time.)
as a rookie, joba chamberlain is not going to take it on himself to decide to buzz youkillis. if it were a team message where chamberlain was told to do it, torre would have simply sat on his hands and not tried to explain to everyone that it was not intentional.
if the yankees wanted to hit someone, they’d bring in farnsworth and really give the the red sox hitters something to think about because no one including farnsworth would know where the ball was going.
there was no intent on chamberlain’s part, but it doesn’t hurt that hitters aren’t so sure of joba’s control anymore.
the red sox and their fans are just trying to deflect from the fact they lost three straight games with their best pitchers lined up.
from weei Jeter has learned “recently” to hit the ball the other way
Seattle just went down 1-2-3…
Joe Mama,
Don’t you think that there are scores of people around the league and thousands across the country that are glad that Joba threw/didn’t throw at that noggin? I mean, we’re reasonable people who don’t wish harm on anyone, but we’re getting more than enough satisfaction for making that smug guy feel the heat. We can’t be the only ones, right?
When Youkilis says “It doesn’t look good.” – is he talking about the 2 pitches or his big bubble head?
Why even bother listening to WEEI when they say stuff like that?
Greenteasucks,
Nice to see you have a heart. I am not saying Joba threw at him purposefully, but as much as I hate Youk, I don’t want to see anyone seriously injured playing a GAME!
Mel,
God is back on our side. He told me yesterday.
dontfirecash,
Good to know. Remind him that he has to watch the Tigers closely.
Its funny to me they blame Bud selig and the Payroll for the sweep and don’t understand what kind of hitter jeter is 2319 hits 90 percent of them to right field
A couple of thoughts:
If Joba’s locker was next to Mike Mussina, would we give him credit for sweaty hands?
I was surprised that Joe went to the Box locker room to talk to Youk. I don’t remember Tito Francona coming over when 2 Yanks were on the way to the hospital after Pedro hit the first 2 batters? They have plunked more Yankees by a huge margin over the last 5 years.
All that said, maybe Youk won’t dig in so deep or just expect to flick pitches foul in the next series. God knows I wouldn’t !!!
Yankees should be two games out by the end of the Homestand
It’s amazing how much this one week will have changed the importance of certain games in September…
The pitches were no where near him!! They could be 50 feet away from him and he would still jump out of the way and hit the deck. Talk about being the king of overreacting. He is not used to having to move his feet. He just steps in the box with his big chin and digs in just like Ortiz. I am sure if Joba wanted to send a message Youk would of saw what a 100 mph fastball feels like in his back. What a great actor.
James,
Is that an ESPN affiliate? I heard Kevin Winters in an interview in my hometown and he sounded very level-headed.
sj44- i didn’t read your post until after i wrote mine. “deflection” is clearly what’s going on. there’s no need for anyone yankee connected to take the bait.the sweep speaks for itself.
the yankees just need to pay attention to business and keep taking series. the devil rays can be tough sometime, but luckily no kazmir. still they can’t be looked past.
it’s going to be interesting with hughes tomorrow night. with all the talk after his last few starts everyone’s going to be watching him really close. he just watched three games of some really good pitching up close. maybe some of it will rub off and inspire him to do likewise.
on the mussina front , shilling gave a clinic on how to survive with an 88 mph fastball. he knocked three or four yankees that i saw off the plate which set up his well located straight fastball or splitter. mussina should take note . he just needs to make the decision to pitch aggressively in like shilling and he can pitch well in the major leagues.
his decision.
no weei is like the wfan except retarded
Just a thought – you wrote
“as a rookie, joba chamberlain is not going to take it on himself to decide to buzz youkillis”
I think a rookie is MORE likely to buzz someone to prove himself to his new teammates. Established guys like Moose don’t care about being called soft because they don’t retaliate for their teammates being pegged.
Bottom line, I wish he had made Youk “skip rope” rather than throw over his head. But I am satisfied with Youk and Pedroia getting intimidated in situations where the yanks still won. SWEEP ON!
Why is it taking so long to throw a pitch to Ibanez?
CaptainsCorner -
I sure haven’t stood in front of a 100 mph heater, but I’m sure I would be able to get any sense of where it’ll be when it is coming toward my melon!!! That is why baseball is the hardest sport of all
I don’t think Joba’s the kind of kid to try and hit someone in the head. It takes some serious stones to try something like that in your 12th big league game. Now that’s different than saying he wasn’t throwing a purpose pitch. I can’t stand Youk but anyone that has ever stepped in a batter’s box at any level doesn’t appreciate a pitch anywhere close to their head- intentional or not. You cant blame him for being slightly iritated.
“we’re reasonable people who don’t wish harm on anyone, but we’re getting more than enough satisfaction for making that smug guy feel the heat. We can’t be the only ones, right?”
Reasonable people? Are you kidding? Read the thread. It sounds like a scene out of the deliverance. I know many yankee fans who are embarrassed by these threads.
Even SJ44 sounds like he’s drooling as he types. Hopefully an impostor.
SJ,
I agree that it is nonsense we are even discussing this, since the pitches were not really all that close. However, I still stand by my earlier statement that intentionally throwing at players is the worst and most moronic part of the game. If I walked outside and threw a baseball as hard as I could at my neighbor, I would go to jail. When it happens in baseball we brush it off as “part of the game,” which unfortunately IMO it is. Anyways, the Yanks swept, God loves us again and all is well in Yankeeland.
Pssh, if Joba was aiming for your head you would just be waking up in the hospital about now.
Go back to screwing your cousin in the back of your pickup you stupid redneck.
What the heck is going on with Seattle/Cleveland? Anyone?
the white European announcers know making fun of Dominican Edwar Ramiraz’s first name
dontfirecash
After you finish reading the Joba rules, please review the great “Unwritten rules of Baseball” (it must available on Amazon right?)
Nobody but knuckledraggers want headshots, but professionals like Clemens handle things properly. They aim for center of mass, they take their suspension and they don’t bitch.
Jokers like the Toronto coach don’t behave responsibly and go after A=Rod multiple times after the message has already been delivered (plus he didn’t have the stones to try anything at Yankee Stadium)
actually Mike Francesca did the same thing when the Yanks called up Robbie when he kept calling him canoe and saying he couldn’t play and Melkey he just stoped giving Melkey a hard time last week
….Nevermind.
Sexson just left the game with a leg injury.
Weei: Debating Wangs velocity fighting a Sox fan who says he didn’t realize wang threw 96 they swear he cant he throws 92. he can get it up to 98 actually, way to know the Yankees ace dummy. Way to figure out Jeter hits the ball the other way after 12 years. No wonder they believe they lost because of the umpires and the payroll
Thanks for the updates from Cleveland, my game feeds haven’t been working very well today.
Well it appears(hopefully) that the long awaited Seattle swoon is finally happening.
3-1 Cleveland on a solo shot by Jones.
The Yankees need to hire Tanyon Sturtze and get him a good seat behind the Socks dugout where Varitek can see a scowl on his face.
Cleveland’s been caught stealing like three times already…
3-2 Cleveland
I know this is a bit trash for treasure but the mets bullpen is in such disarray cant we trade the Great White Hunter and home run dispenser to the Mets for some low level prospects their in the semi pro nl he should do well. plus we open a spot ion the 40 man for Ian Kennedey
After tonight’s game in Cleveland, the Mariners go to Toronto for a weekend series before coming to the Bronx.
Go Blue Jays (for 3 games)
Ugh, c’mon, definitley don’t want Cleveland losing tonight…
Okay I’ve been asking this question all afternoon and I still haven’t heard a logical answer but here I go again. *Why would Joba be sending a message to Boston? Is the Yankees sweeping Boston while they pitched their 3 best pitchers not enough of a message?*
What would be the purpose of being a fire starter and creating more hostility for the next time they play this year? That would be just stupid to me knowing that when the Yankees play in Boston at least one Yankee is going to get hit in the first inning of every game. It’ll probably be Jeter in game one, Damon in game two and Abreu in game 3.
Didn’t Joba miss several pitches on Tuesday night in the exact same location? If I recall correctly, the first one sailed to the backstop. Why not just replay the Tueday night pitches on YES and put an end to it? That’s what happens when he loses command or overthrows.
Of course it won’t end there – the deranged-looking Youkilis and the other sideshow performers won’t let it. There seems to be a conventional wisdom in baseball that the Yankees aren’t real baseball players and the organization is “evil”. So it stands to follow logically that you can throw balls at A-Rod or Jeter, you follow the Yankees to visiting cities where you have no rooting interest at all just to hassel Yankee fans. It’s like throwing a rock at City Hall – a victimless crime. This is the mindless vitriolic frenzy that Boston’s ownership has whipped their fans and teams into. This is why Sheffield is assaulted in Left field in Boston a couple years ago. How long until a player is actually killed because of this dumb “rivalry”?
This is why Boston cops are firing on and killing college students celebrating the Red Sox World Series victory and to a lesser extent why the Sox owners would bother to break convention to sue Mientivicz for the final out ball from 2004 – act like you’ve been there before guys. Everything is overthought and overdone. So let’s all brace ourselves for the next crazy act of “retaliation” by these nuts. Because it seems nothing less will satisfy the mob in Boston.
Unfortunately my feed came back. Maybe Cleveland will do better if I lose it again!!
Ray, ray, ray…
the heat and hostility is going to be there whether some batter gets buzzed or not. They don’t like us, we don’t like them. What it WILL do, whether intentional or otherwise, is keep BoSox batters from getting too comfortable in the batter’s box. Nothing more, nothing less.
The Boston Socks will find themselves hard pressed to even win their 81st game. After that, they should win a couple more somewhere down the line.
Rob, well said.
I’ve already read posts on other blogs of Boston fans imploring their hurler to stick one in A-Rod’s….
ummmm
ear.
MGW Jeter gets hit a lot because he leans over the plate, he is very comfortable in the box. Bottom line is good pitchers make batters uncomfortable because they have great stuff, not because they’re head hunters.
Thanks MGW
Correction – Sheffield was of course in RIGHT field not left in Boston and that guy who punched him should still be in jail.
Joba was asked to do something new today close a game and get a save. Michael Kay was jumping up and down about this on Espn saying it wasn’t necessary and he would know with his vast experience developing young pitchers and acclimating them to the big leagues. However Torre has a different approach hes always given little nuggets to players including veterans like Jeff Nelson in 98 when he was struggling and he looked lost he didn’t pitch for a week but he used him to close the game that clinched the divison Nellie was lights out after that. No Joba doesn’t lack for confidence but if we need Joba to close a game latter in the season and its a one run lead it would have been nice to know it wasn’t his first save. As we saw in this game he muscled up on the ball and overthrew, right over Youks head. Hopefully he learns from it
If I remember when Pedro was on the Soxs he hit Jeter and others with regularity. Anyone remember the 2003 series and Kiko Garcia?
I read a stat today that said 70 yanks have been hit by Sox pitchers since 1998 . The Yanks in turn have hit 47 soxs.
And we know Mussina would never hit anyone to defend a teammate.
I’d bet anyone anything that Youkilis smells like onions, cabbage and cheese.
Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart needs to calm down over there. If he incites Beckett to go throw for Jeter or Arod’s head in the next series, I can guarantee you that punches will be thrown. The Yanks have too many young guys who came up together in the minors now who are close and haven’t been softened like Jeter (who is everybody’s pal on the opposing teams) from having a real bench clearing brawl.
Ray, I believe it is both good stuff, and/or coming inside
[brushbacks/knockdowns, NOT beanballs] which keeps the batter from getting overly comfortable at the plate.
Perhaps we just disagree.
Rob, yer welcome.
It looks like Beckett is doing well in his training program to be Schilling’s replacement as the “mouth of the Sox”.
Boston has a history of ducking pitches for no reason or thinking pitches are coming at their heads when in all actuality they weren’t that close. I remember Manny ducking a pitch that just happened to be high, but it was OVER THE PLATE!
Oh, I thought this topic was referring to Youkilis’ facial hair.
I dont know why so much thought is given behind what youkilis or any boston player/manager has said… If youkillis is angry and thinks bad things will happen in the next series, let it happen.. Either way yanks are getting hit by pitches regularly in every series.. It plays to sox advantage that now they can hit someone and the immediately a warning would come into effect which would mean that yanks wont be able to retaliate, but it would look so classless and juvenile for them to do that.. and If they do that on purpose, its high time the yanks batters charge the mound rather than wait for the pitchers to back them.. I liked the way sheffield almost went up to the mound when pedro hit him… Lets just wait and see how the sox pitchers respond.. I definitely expect something from Schilling or Beckett or Tavarez..
Comes on, does anybody really think that this is the first time that 2 Balls have been so close to Youk’s Head?
I think not.
Youk needs to get over it. Those balls may have been in his direction but they were still about a foot over his head. Not grazing his head or anything. I can’t wait til they try something. Clemens will retaliate as we always expect. I won’t be surprised if the umpires issue a warning before the next Sux-Yanks series.
How can Boston Tool sports announcers say that the two pitches Joba threw over Uglymans head were unquestionably intentional? By saying that it was purposefully done they are opening themselves to a lawsuit.
They didn’t say it looked intentional, or in their opinion it was intentional. The idiot said it was unquestionably intentional.
Bosox fans are pretty ticked off tonight.
Blah, blah, blah, Youkilis… Alex didn’t run and cry when Dice-K buzzed him in the first game of the series, he simply took his base and let it ride. Dice-K is fourth in the AL as far as hit batters, if I recall correctly. Where was the warning ? Why wasn’t he ejected ? He has beaned Alex before…
Oh well, you couldn’t ask for anything more out of this series. Boston still sucks.
ae@dpu,
I remember the pitch you’re talking about. Manny came out toward Clemens after a pitch that was over the plate, but high in the ALCS in 2003. When everyone finally calmed down, Manny got back in the box and Clemens struck him out. I don’t know why more Yankees pitchers don’t do the same thing. I think they should buzz one under Manny’s chin once or twice a game. You don’t even need to hit him.
Usually the Yankees don’t have to throw at Red Sox hitters because they are beating them..the last four games of the 2004
ALCS being a notable exception. Where does the “Greek God of Walks/Armenian God of Whining” stand in the detested players list? Alex Rodriguez is first according to SI.. White Six catcher (crash and burn in the Windy City) Pierzynski is up there.
Blackaccord you are so right about Sheffield. That was the moment Pedro’s career jumped the shark. He was already a desperate maniac sending Soriano and Jeter to the hospital in the same ambulance. But sheffield pointed his bat at him and said “Not Me!” and now the 5′ 9” power pitcher with no power didn’t have the stomach to continue beaning guys and that was that.
Maybe Youkilis could get a ride in the whambulance or the Circus wagon with the other carny freaks on that bench.
Some interesting facts I found while roaming the internet on various blogs:
“Since 2000, Sox pitchers have hit 612 batters. With the exception of the Devil Rays, who hit 604 (but had really really really bad pitchers), no other team hit more than 525 (Rangers). After the Rangers and Jays (493), you see a cluster of 7 teams in the 430-460 range, including the Yanks (456), and then a handful of teams with lower totals (Twins at the bottom with 361). So before Youkilis, Beckett and the rest of Red Sox Nation do any pouting, they should realize that the team they play for/root for is easily the head-huntingest team in the American League in recent memory, and that the Yankees are right in the middle of the bell curve.”
“Since 2000, Red Sox pitchers have hit 85 Yankees vs. 54 Red Sox that were hit. That seems like a pretty wide margin.”
Youkilis is the new human rain delay the way he’s always crying they almost dragged the tarp out to cover the infield. Who the hell does he think he is anyway, Teddy Baseball.
HAHA filthy slider!! He is the biggest cry baby.
Even if Joba didn’t do it on purpose, it still kinda worked out as a good thing. How many times have we seen Arod or Jeter get hit by “accident” by the Red Sox? It keeps them on their toes, not to get too comfortable playing the Yankees. There are many times Clemens has annoyed me but he does protect his teammates and he get’s big points for that.
I think there’s a simple answer here. After the play in which Youkilis ran out of the baseline, and while the umpires were conferring, Youkilis seemed to be giving it to A-Rod.
I don’t know if it was simple trash talk, and I was too far away to get any better sense of it, but it seemed pretty clear that Youkilis was directing comments to A-Rod.
I think Jaba effectively told him to STFU.
Do you think there is a real possibility that Joba will get suspended over this, even though there was no warning? And, assuming that the pitches just got away from him (no intent) do you think this will get in his head and change his aggressive approach going forward?
“I’d bet anyone anything that Youkilis smells like onions, cabbage and cheese.”
lolololol
ur story on del.icio.us today — liked it.. bookmarked it , will be back to check out some more later .. nice article ..
