If I am right, that when Roger miss his next start, then Wang can pitch that day on his normal four days rest right?

Or Moose get that start and Wang pitches on a six-day off??

However, if Roger misses more than one start, then is will be some concerns about the rotation, I guess...

"Was he broke before he got to NY? You make it sound like he needed the money."

Nope. Not sure what that has to do with anything. He loves money. Nothing wrong with that. But to command that much money and then say "well, I'm 45 and a number 5 anyway" and not expect to be called on it is ridiculous.

"The guys on the team have all praised him so, that’s the “proof I need to see the guy was worth having on the team this year."

They also praised damon for what he changed in the clubhouse last year. Still got the same results. You can believe what you want. If that helps you feel better talking about what clemens gives in terms that can't be quantified. I'm sure that's what the yankees were looking for when they signed him. They could have had him less by signing him as a coach.

"Did he not give his all here? How many times did he leave the team?"

Ha. Really, that's how pathetic it is with regards to clemens. The man arrived as if jesus himself was signing with the yankees, and now you're actually defending him with the fact that he actually went to the games? Really? Well, I might have to reconsider then. He's a 500 pitcher with a 4.45 era, but dammit he came to EVERY game!

"Roger Clemens is not the reason they are what they are as a team this year. Not even close."

And he wasn't the answer either. Not even close.

Was he broke before he got to NY? You make it sound like he needed the money.

He did what every player does, he went to a team that offered him a lot of money. So what?

Did he not give his all here? How many times did he leave the team? Only time I know of is when he was suspended.

He has worked with the young pitchers. They have raved about him. He has pitched well enough to keep the team in the game in most of his starts.

The guys on the team have all praised him so, that's the "proof" I need to see the guy was worth having on the team this year.

What were you expecting from him in the AL? The guy has pitched better than most of the guys on the staff this year.

Unless, of course, you have rather had Tyler Clippard, Chase Wright or Jeff Karstens making starts every fifth day.

The money they paid him has not stopped them from doing ANYTHING.

They spent more money than any team in baseball signing its draft picks. They signed the #1 non-draft eligible Latin American prospect and are in the mix for one or two more.

So, what exactly has the money got to to with it? The guy pitched until he freaking elbow fell off. Is that not enough for you?

"He was supposed to be the #5 starter on this staff. He had to assume a bigger role because of the failings of others. Forget the money because its not your money."

He came to the yankees because they offered the most money. He's making the money a number one would make. You can't go to the highest bidder and then say "well, I'm really a number 5" and be taken seriously.

"But, the guy always took the ball. That’s something to be admired. No pitcher is always going to feel his best."

What does that even mean? What other pitcher doesn't take the ball simply because he doesn't feel good? 18 million and you're praising him for taking the mound despite not feeling well at 45?

"just like he picked them up earlier in the year."

How? With his 500 record? 4.45 era? Or is it other things, intensity, toughness, that you can't prove but it sounds good? Amazing statement.

Id pitch till my elbow fell apart if were being paid that salary of his. The Guy has heart and if he felt he could be effective with some pain then Id send him out there every 5 days. Would rather Pavano play thru that pain?

Its pretty hard to rip on Clemens, IMO.

Let's review.....

This team was DOA before he got here. He was supposed to be the #5 starter on this staff. He had to assume a bigger role because of the failings of others. Forget the money because its not your money. Talk about what his role was supposed to be on the team.

He pitched quite well early but, they didn't hit in many of his starts. He has been up and down since, mainly because he was hurting.

But, the guy always took the ball. That's something to be admired. No pitcher is always going to feel his best.

The guy is the Anti-Pavano. He also instilled some toughness in this team, which helped them get back in the race.

If the elbow is bad, and he can't pitch anymore, its up to the rest of the team to pick him up, just like he picked them up earlier in the year.

He's done everything he can do. He has left everything he has on the field.

If more guys on the team played with his passion, they wouldn't be in another deep funk.

There is PLENTY of things wrong with this team. Roger Clemens isn't one of them.

Lest we forget,
Roger chose the Yankees over the "bawston Dirt Dogs." He came out of retirement to try and help us,before he goes to the Hall of Fame as a Yankee.Give him his due respect. We pursued him vigorously !!!!!!!!!

Why, oh, why are players given the benefit of the doubt regarding soreness, injuries and the like? They are competitors who never want to give in, for crying out loud. I don't know that Mussina or anyone else would have been any better than Clemens today, but I do know that now Clemens is going for an MRI on his elbow. This is not the first time something like this has happened on the Yankees. At what point do the coaches and manager and trainers and whoever say, "NO! You're not pitching with soreness"?
