Here we are, back at O’Hare Airport in Chicago. No delays so far en route to Kansas City. But there was something funny I had to pass along.
It took a few years, but the airlines have finally figured out that people need power outlets in terminals. So business travelers now have assorted options including these cool little cubicles like the one I am using now.
United has even installed outlets as some seats, which is handy. But in large letters a sign says, “Do Not Plug In Power Tools.”
Seriously. So if you were able to sneak a band saw or three-speed power drill through security, please do everybody a favor and wait until you get home before building a bird-feeder. United thanks you.
As for the Yankees, it’s quiet so far today. A few stats of interest:
Bobby Abreu (7 of 15, 2 RBI, 5 extra-base hits) got hot the last four games while that Alex Rodriguez guy is 9 of his last 18 with four homers and nine RBI. His batting average is up to .312. … Hideki Matsui is 4 of his last 30 with one run scored and one RBI. … Jason Giambi is in a 2-for-22 skid. … Jorge Posada is 8 of his last 12 and is up to .337. He deserves MVP votes.
It will be interesting to watch Joba Chamberlain in Kansas City. Nebraska is three hours away and a herd of Huskers will be making the trip to see him, including his dad and his college coach.
Alex Gordon of the Royals is an old friend and college teammate and seeing those two guys on the same field will be a certified big deal for Nebraskans. If he has 101 or 102 in him, it could come out this weekend.
