Here is further evidence that Jobamania is only getting bigger. Mike, who posts regularly on this blog, was at the Stadium last night and got Joba to sign his iPhone.

Here is what he said in an e-mail:

Funny thing is, my iPhone was not the weirdest thing Joba signed, he signed someone’s very old dirty sneaker too. Does this mean I have to get a new iPhone so I don’t fade the signature?

I’ll ask Joba tomorrow what is the weirdest thing he has signed since he got called up and report back.

I’m not sure if I should laugh at this or what.

  2. owine September 6th, 2007 at 3:30 pm

The price came down and now you can get a $100 refund from Apple because of the price drop so I say get a new one.

  3. Searle September 6th, 2007 at 3:31 pm

here is what you do, get to a laser etching service, let them etch that autograph into the iphone, they do things like this for laptops (laptop companies dont like it becuase recklesses etchings can be too deep and hurt the laptop), so be carefull

there was a portable device some company was selling years ago, dont know how well it works or the price.

  4. fleas September 6th, 2007 at 3:35 pm

laugh for sure! All I had was my iphone, well I too had my sneakers, but I wasn’t that clever (or gross).

I know I am not laughing about a $600.00 iphone being put in my sports memorabilia collection. Hey, well.. at least Apple lowered the price to $399.00 for the new one!

Besides, right now.. with Joba hotter.. and the iphone the hottest phone.. I can’t think of anything better for him to have signed! Excluding the young kids dirty sneakers of course.

  5. Rebecca September 6th, 2007 at 3:41 pm

That you have an i-phone makes me obscenely jealous.

    JOBA SIGNED IT?!?!?!

I was at Sunday’s game…my brother got us tickets three rows behind the Yankee dugout. Yeah, they were incredible, would have been better had the Yankees not crapped the bed against the Deviled Eggs.

Anyway, Joba showed up in the dugout, popped his head up about 10 min before game time, and fans came down to get autographs, and he signed happily and often. One of the funniest moments came when he was signing about six or seven baseballs in a row, and he didn’t know which fan belonged to which baseball. So, holding a signed baseball in each hand, mouth agape, Joba looked very apprehensively back and forth, back and forth, trying to remember who gave him which ball to sign, while all the kiddies were screaming “JAAAAABAAAAAAA!!” Welcome to the majors, bud.

Edwar Ramirez was also great to the kids looking for autographs.

Right after the national anthem, (Joba, Phil and Ian Kennedy stood together) Joba turned and before he went back down the steps, he let out a real loud “WOOOOOOO-HOOOOOOOO!” to his teammates. Dunno if he does that all the time, but he’s definitely a breath of fresh air to this team.

    Cool, love the jPhone!

  9. Bry Guy September 6th, 2007 at 3:55 pm

everyone thank the white sox for blowing another game to team the yanks would like to see lose. Thanks to Jenks Blown Save in the 9th the tiogers get within 3 instead of 4. Thanks you white sox for laying down to another good team, it is much appreciated.

  11. Rebecca September 6th, 2007 at 3:59 pm

    Dude. I love Joba!

  12. Virgin Islands September 6th, 2007 at 4:02 pm

    Hello All:
First time poster here. I will start off by saying I am a Red Sox fan. I enjoy reading insightful comments from both Red Sox and Yankee fans. I hate the name calling and mean spiritedness some fans of both teams display on this blog.
However having said all that am I the only one who gets ticked off when I see during warmups at YS Manny and Melky are sharing an Ipod in the outfield?
Can’t they at least pretend to be enemies?? You would never have seen that with Munson and Fisk. It happened a lot with Nomar and Jeter as well. What do you think?

  13. This Year September 6th, 2007 at 4:10 pm

Strange thing is that Joba signs with his left hand.

  14. buchholz eleven September 6th, 2007 at 4:11 pm

you get yourself a nice see through case for it so you can still see it but not smudge it off.

  15. GoYanks September 6th, 2007 at 4:11 pm

    Virgin Islands,

I think Red Sox fans are jerks; especially ones coming onto a Yankee blog with a condensending attitude. Insightful enough.

  16. buchholz eleven September 6th, 2007 at 4:12 pm

dude, players these days train together in the off season and may end up playing together at one point or another or are from the same country so i have no problem with it, plus there is a lot of camaraderie and respect around the league.

  17. DesignatedBlogger September 6th, 2007 at 4:13 pm

You can protect that signature with clear nail polish.

  18. Jeff NJ September 6th, 2007 at 4:14 pm

Forget the iPhone, I just ordered the new 16gb IPod Touch, which is basically an iphone without the phone, but with wi fi. It costs $399 but you don’t have to deal with the terrible AT&T phone service.

  19. buchholz eleven September 6th, 2007 at 4:16 pm

yeh forget the iphone, i love carrying around both my phone and ipod around with me /sarcasm.

  20. S.o.S.27 September 6th, 2007 at 4:16 pm

    Virgin Islands,
I completely agree. I dont think they should be talking to each other till after the game in their private time. Just like when magic and Iseah wouldnt go to each others houses when they faced each other in the playoffs.

Now you have people sharing agents so they know each other better. Which translates to being friends on the field.

I will also add the players going to the hated rivals in free agency. That to me is being a trader and not showing any loyalty to the rivalry. I wish it was like it was before, but unfortunatly its all about the money now, not the competition.

  21. migames September 6th, 2007 at 4:17 pm

melky was teaching manny how to use the ipod

  22. Virgin Islands September 6th, 2007 at 4:17 pm

    Buchholz 11,
Good points. I would imagine FA has had a lot to do with it.

  23. mel September 6th, 2007 at 4:19 pm

Hey! It’s Tim’s neighbor, Wilson, from Home Improvement.

  24. jim kenobi September 6th, 2007 at 4:22 pm

Aww man, I want a jPhone!

  25. wood is good September 6th, 2007 at 4:24 pm

I’ve got a minor league card signed by Joba, Jose Tabata, and Dellin Betances! I’m praying I can sell it around 2017 and help pay for my kid’s education!

  26. Rebecca September 6th, 2007 at 4:36 pm

    on another subject:

Dude. Wtf is up with Rick Ankiel?

I mean, dude, I get hitting a HR on your return. But a HR a day is kind of pushing it, don’t yah think? ;)

  27. mel September 6th, 2007 at 4:38 pm

    Rebecca,

Did you figure out how to link your site to your name?

  28. jim kenobi September 6th, 2007 at 4:39 pm

What do you guys think the over/under should be for when Rick Ankiel:The Movie is made?

  29. Josh September 6th, 2007 at 4:40 pm

the actually Wilson is dead, so that’s not really funny…

  30. mel September 6th, 2007 at 4:45 pm

Thanks, Josh. Didn’t know that. Pete, please delete?

  31. Josh September 6th, 2007 at 4:45 pm

anyone wanna take a shot at the 12 postseason roster pitchers we will have?

  32. Rebecca September 6th, 2007 at 4:45 pm

    Mel–Yep!

Jim kenobi–Hmm…well, if the Cardinals win the World Series, it’s at SIGN KEVIN COSTNER ALREADY. If they don’t, I go with 2010, 2011…

  33. hmmm September 6th, 2007 at 4:46 pm

“However having said all that am I the only one who gets ticked off when I see during warmups at YS Manny and Melky are sharing an Ipod in the outfield?”

ehh, the player don’t hate each other. it’s all in the minds of the stupid fans. that’s what free agency does. how can you “hate” a bunch of guys you would be happy to play with the following year if their team offered you more money. it’s always about the money.

besides, Manny has been dying to be a Yankee since the day he signed with the Red Sox.

  34. Yankeephone? September 6th, 2007 at 4:55 pm

Are there Yankee phones i.e. phones with the Yankee pinstripes, interlocking N.Y., etc.

I’d love a navy one with a white interlocking NY on the receiver and a pinstriped one with the Uncle Sam logo on the receiver. Same for cells.

    Those would sell like hotcakes.

  35. Rebecca September 6th, 2007 at 4:56 pm

You can get phone covers in pinstripes.

  36. mel September 6th, 2007 at 4:57 pm

You know what irks me? Chicago losing two very winnable games.

  37. Phil September 6th, 2007 at 5:00 pm

    A Joba phone? Perfect.

  38. Josh September 6th, 2007 at 5:01 pm

you know what irks me? the whitesox period… they tanking every meaning game that affects us it seems…

  39. Guy Incognito September 6th, 2007 at 5:05 pm

    Josh:

    1. A Pettitte
    2. C Wang
    3. M Mussina
    4. R Clemens
    5. P Hughes
    6. M Rivera
    7. J Chamberlain
    8. L Vizcaino
    9. E Ramirez
    10. B Bruney
    11. K Farnsworth
    12. C Britton

Ian Kennedy will likely substitute for one of the pitchers listed above at 8-12 if he keeps getting a shot and pitches well. But he and Moose will not be in the playoff rotation. No way Veras makes the postseason roster…that’s the lot.

So 12 pitchers, plus the lineup is 21:

    lf Damon
    ss Jeter
    rf Abreu
    3b Rodriguez
    dh Matsui
    c Posada
    1b Giambi
    2b Cano
    cf Cabrera

And then your four bench men make 25:

    Molina
    Betemit
    Mientkiewicz
    Duncan

Honestly, this shouldn’t be a difficult decision for Joe & Co. It’s clear who’s performed this season and who has not.

  40. mel September 6th, 2007 at 5:07 pm

    Pete,

You’re going to have to have the rookies autograph stuff to auction at your off-season charity events.

  41. Yankeephone? September 6th, 2007 at 5:10 pm

    Rebecca

Thanks for letting me know. I did a quick search -plenty of cellphone covers, too bad no covers for regular phones.

Oh jeez they’re having a Yankee cellphone holder night soon haha.

  42. This Year September 6th, 2007 at 5:12 pm

Don’t think we should be counting our playoff chickens just yet. I mean, have you heard of jinxes or what? At least use “would’ instead of “will”. Otherwise, you will rival Kay.

  43. DesignatedBlogger September 6th, 2007 at 5:14 pm

    GUY,

There is no lefty in your PS bullpen. So, we might end up with Henn. And we’d only need 4 starters, so I wouldn’t bet on Mussina. All depends on who pitches well in the next 4 weeks.

  44. LathamJoe September 6th, 2007 at 5:15 pm

Chicago is what they are – one of the worst ML B teams in the American League. What should irk Yankee Fans is losing 2 out of 3 to a Devil Ray Team that featured three rag-armed pitchers with ERAs close to 7.00

At this point the Yankees need to start winning series consistently and not worry about scoreboard watching.

  45. Rebecca September 6th, 2007 at 5:15 pm

    Yankeephone?

    no probblem

  46. mel September 6th, 2007 at 5:17 pm

    Josh,

Chi-Sux? I have no doubt that they were trying to win especially with the chance to play spoiler. But yeah, they still, you know…

Hopefully, Detroit’s offense stays stuck in neutral and I’ll actually be cheering for the Mariners in that series. I think they’re both 3 games back, but the Tigers are more dangerous.

  47. LathamJoe September 6th, 2007 at 5:27 pm

I’m surprised that the Yankees have not brought up a 3rd catcher as “emergency insurance” in case of injury.
This would allow Torre the flexibility of playing Posada (DH or first base) when Molina catches. It would especially be desirable when facing lefties.

  48. saucy September 6th, 2007 at 5:39 pm

i thought i heard Duncan can be the ‘emergency’ catcher

  49. That's MLB September 6th, 2007 at 5:40 pm

    Lathamjoe

Series like that (Yanks dropping 2 of 3 to T.B.) happen all the time in M.L.B. Seattle didn’t capitalize on that series (0-3 that weekend as part of their 9-game losing streak). The Yanks made up for it with 2 out of 3 vs. Seattle and I think erased it with that and the sweep of Boston (if you look at big picture: 6-3 on the homestand). Did you honestly think the Yanks would sweep Boston even at home vs. Boston’s front three (or two if you consider Wakefield > Schilling overall, I don’t)? I didn’t. I figured 2 out of 3 at best. Maybe T.B. was finally due to be a pain in the Yanks’ collective rear this year. They have only one more chance to be one but it’s Games 157-159. I could see the Yanks sweeping T.B. there with Shields/ Kazmir/ Sonnastine (T.B.’s front three).

  50. Jaspal September 6th, 2007 at 5:52 pm

I’m puzzled on the same item. If Duncan can truly be an emergency catcher then why put him and the team in that position at this critical stretch? Why not call up someone who is a catcher?

  51. buchholz eleven September 6th, 2007 at 5:55 pm

someone fire guillen, their crackheaded gm. pack of losers, worse than then go goddamn black sox over here.

  52. Rebecca September 6th, 2007 at 6:09 pm

Okay, you all know how I was on about Rick Ankiel earlier, yeah?

He didn’t hit one home run today.

    He’s hit TWO.

(granted, not in the same inning, but I mean, really!)

  53. buchholz eleven September 6th, 2007 at 6:12 pm

damn ankiel is insane, makes me just a tad suspicious but hey good for him. it must have been hell for him to go through what he did.

  54. saucy September 6th, 2007 at 6:15 pm

Ankiel is killing me in the head-to-head league I’m in. Luckily Soriano came thru today.

  55. Twenty-Three Grannies September 6th, 2007 at 6:19 pm

Aw, the photo is giving me a 404 now. Can you fix the link please, Pete?

  56. J-Dawg September 6th, 2007 at 6:24 pm

It’s great to see Rick Ankiel hitting home runs at this rate. He’s shown a lot of heart and perseverance by continuing to play after the injuries he suffered several years ago.

  57. Matty September 6th, 2007 at 6:27 pm

    I just read Rebecca’s blog.

I did so because Shelley Duncan established a psychic link with me.

Shelley Duncan is so intense, he makes Christopher Walken say, “Hey… buddy… slow down! It’s gonna be… OK!”

  58. Ranting Guy September 6th, 2007 at 6:30 pm

Is there a way to post a picture or a link to a picture???

  59. Rebecca September 6th, 2007 at 6:33 pm

Matty: You mean Shelley reads my… (uncontrollable squeeing)

Ok, back to reading Bronte! Oh the joys of an English minor!

    Rebecca:

Mary Shelley. Sorry. Yes, she’s back from the dead.

  63. Matty September 6th, 2007 at 6:36 pm

BTW, Rebecca, you’d probably be 31 flavors of awesome if it wasn’t for that pesky Syracuse problem. Sorry.

(I have a personal, intense hatred for the school that burns through my soul, if I may be so poetic.)

  64. Drunken Yankees Fan September 6th, 2007 at 6:37 pm

It’s never to early to start when you’re a Yankees fan! We’re the best at everything, even being alcoholics!

By the way, you’re right, Syracuse sucks.

  67. Rebecca September 6th, 2007 at 6:40 pm

Matty: So did you go to Georgetown, Rutgers or UConn? ;)

Anyway, our football team sucks, our winters are brutal, it’s 90F right now and I have no air conditioning, I’ve got more work now than my junior and senior years of high school combined, I’m not even sure who my adviser is and I’ve got a huge hole in my bathroom wall.

    Other than that, though…

  68. Drunken Yankees Fan #2 September 6th, 2007 at 6:43 pm

_That you have an i-phone makes me obscenely jealous._

units are not selling, yesterday they cut prices by a third. It’s a cabbage patch doll, plain and simple. the interface is good, but brings nothing to the table, like the macbook or Ipod did.

sure. just sayin’ Iphone will not make any significant contribution, like their other products, such as the mouse and desktop.

  72. Todd Drew September 6th, 2007 at 6:49 pm

    Rebecca,
Is Mary Karr still at Syracuse? I did a newspaper feature on her when her second memoir was released. I went to a reading at the Westcott Community Center and after the interview we talked for 30 minutes about baseball. She is a Yankee fan through her father.

  73. migames September 6th, 2007 at 6:52 pm

nah. just hand him a cheeseburger with curlyfries

  76. Rebecca September 6th, 2007 at 6:53 pm

Todd Drew–I’m not sure. I know Mary Gaskill is still here, as is George Saunders. I’m pretty sure she was around my freshman year, but I haven’t taken a class with her and I was abroad last spring.

Did you write for the Post-Standard or something else?

  77. Todd Drew September 6th, 2007 at 6:57 pm

    Rebecca,
Yes, the Post-Standard back then. I would recommend taking one of her classes if you have a chance. I sat next to her at a Tobias Wolfe reading once and she was far more entertaining than Wolfe.

  78. Rebecca September 6th, 2007 at 6:59 pm

Todd Drew–I’ll keep that in mind! My favorite classes so far were the creative writing workshops I took, both from Arthur Flowers.

So many courses I want to take, but next semester is my last!

  83. Matthew September 6th, 2007 at 7:22 pm

To prolong his career, the Captain will be the Yankees 1st baseman for some of 2009 and full time in 2010.

  87. Rebecca September 6th, 2007 at 7:48 pm

    Why is Baltimore so awful?

How do we find ways to lose to them?

  88. sunny615 September 6th, 2007 at 8:00 pm

    Hey Pete

We know that Joba’s locker sits next to Clemens, but where are Hughes and Kennedy? It would make sense that Hughes is near Pettitte, and Kennedy near Mussina…

Is Duncan near Giambi? Gonzo near Jeter? Just curious….

  89. mel September 6th, 2007 at 8:02 pm

    MILLAR!!

  90. Rebecca September 6th, 2007 at 8:04 pm

    Kevin Millar = hero?

    No, can’t be!

  91. jennifer September 6th, 2007 at 8:08 pm

  92. jennifer September 6th, 2007 at 8:09 pm

    Hughes is near Jeter.

  93. Rebecca September 6th, 2007 at 8:15 pm

    Evenin’ Jennifer!

Of course baltimore’s about to blow their lead. Again…

  94. Nick September 6th, 2007 at 8:16 pm

Who said Kevin Millar picks on just the Yankees ???

  95. Rebecca September 6th, 2007 at 8:17 pm

….Friggin’ people named after breakfast cereals…

  96. Mike September 6th, 2007 at 8:18 pm

    Rick Ankiel is ridiculous.

Ankiel is batting .358 with nine homers, 29 RBIs and 22 Runs in 23 games.

  97. jennifer September 6th, 2007 at 8:19 pm

UGH I hate the o’s, I hate Bobby Jenks. he killed my era for my fantasy team! Looks like i’ll be knocked out in the first round!!

  98. jennifer September 6th, 2007 at 8:20 pm

Someone already picked him up in my league! Right now I need all the help I can get. I’m losing badly.

  99. Matthew September 6th, 2007 at 8:24 pm

I hate Millar but he kills Timmy Wakefield. In SI this past week, they talked to him about it and he said he just goes against everything he normally does and plays it like a beer league softball game. He tries to hit HRs off Wakefield. I sadly kind of enjoyed the interview. Although its hard to admit that. OK, i still despise him.

  100. Rebecca September 6th, 2007 at 8:25 pm

  108. NYJane September 6th, 2007 at 9:01 pm

oh my god… holy mackarel. you gotta like that rebecca. harrison rocks.

  109. Rebecca September 6th, 2007 at 9:02 pm

    Yea. That was sweet.

Now, if my JETS can do that on Sunday, I’ll be set.

  110. Go NYR September 6th, 2007 at 9:06 pm

Go Colts. Hope they cover the spread.

Im not sure about Joba’s signature. Perhaps it looks horrible because its on an iPhone.

  111. Rebecca September 6th, 2007 at 9:10 pm

…Bucholz is in for Boston. I do believe he’s already been hit though. I imagine Baltimore’s itching to hit him hard…

  112. NYJane September 6th, 2007 at 9:11 pm

hehe.. we can all wish. chad needs be chad again. (although i think he will ever get back to pre-injury shape).

the saints are just getting pounded.

  113. NYJane September 6th, 2007 at 9:14 pm

buchholz pitching from the pen… if this is an homage to joba, well then we feel flattered.

  114. Rebecca September 6th, 2007 at 9:15 pm

Baltimore has bases loaded, 0 out.

  115. NYJane September 6th, 2007 at 9:16 pm

yeah, he’s getting behind on counts. bases loaded.

  116. Rebecca September 6th, 2007 at 9:17 pm

    ….And, of course, they GIDP.

  117. Go NYR September 6th, 2007 at 9:20 pm

Anyone see the Oriole’s uniforms? They are stupid.

  118. NYJane September 6th, 2007 at 9:22 pm

    pffft.. millar sucks.

i gotta go get some alcohol. this is too much for me.

yeah, what’s the deal with the o’s uniforms?

  119. Rebecca September 6th, 2007 at 9:24 pm

    I haven’t seen them…pictures?

  120. NYJane September 6th, 2007 at 9:35 pm

i tried making screen shots from soapcast but it’s not working for some reason. they look old fashioned – loose top and baggy pants with black sox written in front and the left sleeve has BS on it.

  121. jennifer September 6th, 2007 at 9:39 pm

    http://tinyurl.com/yod8vy

not the best picture, but one none the less.

  122. Todd September 6th, 2007 at 9:39 pm

O’s uniforms are from Negro league

  123. Rebecca September 6th, 2007 at 9:41 pm

    Dude.

You don’t win games in uniforms like those!

  124. dontfirecash September 6th, 2007 at 9:44 pm

I like those uniforms, just my personal taste though.

  125. Go NYR September 6th, 2007 at 9:45 pm

I dont care where they are from. Those uniforms are pretty nasty.

  126. Dave K September 6th, 2007 at 9:52 pm

JD Drew is really killing them and I love it!

GIDP with bases loaded, 1 out

  127. Dr. Acula September 6th, 2007 at 9:53 pm

    hahaha

boston locked in a cage match with baltimore

The big game is really Cleveland vs Orange County. I so want to see Cleveland nab the first or second seed, forcing Boston and halos to deal with nasty cross country trips in the playoffs.

    Go Cleveland!!

  128. Dave K September 6th, 2007 at 9:56 pm

I’m with you Dr. Acula – and it would be huge to beat Escobar tonight.

I do not want to face the Angels in the playoffs. (If the Yankees make the playoffs – which I will not yet take for granted)

  129. Rebecca September 6th, 2007 at 9:58 pm

You know, as it stands right now, the Yankees would be the only team in the playoffs without the color red as part of their uniforms!

  130. Dave K September 6th, 2007 at 9:59 pm

reason enough for them to make it

  131. Rebecca September 6th, 2007 at 9:59 pm

…and we go to the ninth.

  132. Dr. Acula September 6th, 2007 at 10:02 pm

MLB should investigate JD Drew for HGH abuse. In his prior nine years, he’s only had two healthy seasons.

  133. Rebecca September 6th, 2007 at 10:04 pm

Baez = horrible. Totally not my friend.

  134. Dr. Acula September 6th, 2007 at 10:09 pm

another thing about Cali, one of their home games in the playoffs will held at 8:00 PM pacific, which for an eastern team will fell like the Detroit rain delay game.

Let it the chowderheads deal with midnight -basketball- baseball.

  135. Dave K September 6th, 2007 at 10:10 pm

Lets hope Gagne pitches the 9th

  136. YankeeJosh September 6th, 2007 at 10:10 pm

Even worse is that if the Sox win Buchholz gets another win. Laptops stolen 29, wins 3. *sigh*

  137. Rebecca September 6th, 2007 at 10:14 pm

Dr. A–YUCK! Man, I really hope we don’t play LAA! I’ve got way too much coursework and GRE stuffs and siblings getting married to deal with ultra late evening games!

  138. NYJane September 6th, 2007 at 10:16 pm

uh oh.. someone mentioned laptops and buchholz together. let the trolls start pouring in…

  139. Dr. Acula September 6th, 2007 at 10:17 pm

i wonder how many IPhones Buchholz “owns” ?

  140. YankeeJosh September 6th, 2007 at 10:17 pm

    Rebecca,

October is not a time for weddings. I was speaking with a friend and we decided February post-super bowl is the best time to get married. Though I suppose a summer wedding in the dog days of August is acceptable.

  141. Dr. Acula September 6th, 2007 at 10:20 pm

    Rebecca-

exactly. so hopefully Cleveland will swat the Halos in this series, secure the second seed, which would force a boston-O.C. first round match-up.

  142. YankeeJosh September 6th, 2007 at 10:21 pm

    Acula,

Based on his previous experience it is safe to assume he has 29. Seeing as how possession is 9/10th of the law, simple math tells us he “owns” 26.1

  143. Rebecca September 6th, 2007 at 10:23 pm

YankeeJosh: My brother’s getting married in November, I’m a bridesmaid.

  144. buchholz eleven September 6th, 2007 at 10:24 pm

its official, the orioles are useless

  145. YankeeJosh September 6th, 2007 at 10:26 pm

Okay, Niovember is acceptable. I’ve got a wedding to go to in November too. It gets in the way of football but for a week I can deal.

  146. PB in DC September 6th, 2007 at 10:26 pm

Are all Red Sox fans who come to the LoHud Yanks blog trolls?

B/C I think the comments re: Bucholz & laptops are some of the best comments on the blog… and I’m a Sox fan.

Well, I’m actually a baseball fan first, and then a Sox fan, as difficult as that may be to imagine.

Really though, can someone define ‘troll’ for me?

    thx
    cheers

  147. NYJane September 6th, 2007 at 10:29 pm

PB – you know, i should apologize. actually you’ve been posting reasonable stuff so sorry to generalize.

  148. YankeeJosh September 6th, 2007 at 10:30 pm

    PB,

IMO no. A troll is someone who posts to antagonize the masses, usually making insane claims. And repetition too. Making a point once or twice is acceptable but going on and on to antagonize is trollish.

Spirited debate even with a Sox fan is not trollish imo.

  149. Dr. Acula September 6th, 2007 at 10:32 pm

    YankeeJosh-LoL

    PB in DC-

_Are all Red Sox fans who come to the LoHud Yanks blog trolls?_

Nah. I love you guys. I’m overcome with an unique thrill when we kill boston in the teeth.

im actually waiting for MAGIC NUMBER (INSERT NUMBER HERE X 100) until i go to bed… where are you you son of a gun

  151. Rebecca September 6th, 2007 at 10:38 pm

PB: Trolls post to piss people off, and to get attention for themselves.

By that definition, you =/= troll.

BTW, I’m a Yankee fan AND a baseball purist. Try figuring that one out!

And Indy’s winning! Maybe I’ll be 1-0 on my football picks before the end of the night? Would be a great way to start…

  152. susan mullen September 6th, 2007 at 10:40 pm

Ian Kennedy’s wedding currently sked. for Oct. 6…..
“NEW YORK (AP) — If Ian Kennedy has to postpone his wedding, it will be for a really good reason.

Scheduled to be at Westborough Country Club in Kirkwood, Mo., for his nuptials on Oct. 6, the rookie pitcher might be in the middle of a playoff series with the New York Yankees.”
    From the Sporting News

  153. PB in DC September 6th, 2007 at 10:48 pm

i just wrote out along response, but it didn’t post… here is the essence of it:

    Dr. Acula,

Great pic. Really. Petey didn’t fare too well at Yankee stadium if my memory serves me. If it was a bit early in the evening, I’d go track down his career stats at NYY. Too tired though. I will say that I’ll never forget the epic Pedro-Roger (Clemens was my childhood hero until he moved “closer” to Houston, ie to Toronto). Anyhow, the Sox won that game 2-1 on a late inning Trot Nixon homerun. What a game though.

Anyhow, Dr. Acula, your comment re: Bucholz & laptops prompted me to do two things:
    1. laugh out loud
    2. post re: trolls etc.

I enjoy the blog here for the most part (not the people bashing). If we all just ignore the trolls (magic-number-man comes to mind), then they’ll go away.

Looking forward to the ALCS bw the Red Sox & Yankees… if NYY takes the wild card (not taking a shot at the team, just being realistic). I think the yanks have a fine team and these two teams seem destined to meet in October.

    thx for defining trolls

    PB

    testing

  155. Rebecca September 6th, 2007 at 10:50 pm

    Cleveland’s up right now…

  156. Dr. Acula September 6th, 2007 at 11:03 pm

_Looking forward to the ALCS bw the Red Sox & Yankees_

my mouth is watering. it wouldn’t be as much fun if we didn’t serve as foils to each other.

  157. Andrea September 7th, 2007 at 12:37 am

There are so many reasons to be jealous of this guy.
