The Yankees are 3 games up over the Tigers for the Wild Card and they are the only team they need to worry about with the Mariners being 5 out now. I would give Jeter a full week off. Yes in KC, the entire series in Toronto cuz its astroturf than reevaluate him Friday in Boston. Jeter can maybe play some DH in Boston and Betemit and Gonzalez can cover SS over the next week.

Click my name for the Mayo Clinic’s site about patellar tendinitis. Full recovery can take a few weeks, though it should be faster for an excellent athlete who is willing to play through pain. I don’t think Jetes would consent to a DL stint anyway. Just so long as he’s back by October.

Patellar tendinitis is not a serious injury. Surgery is never required. The treatment is rest, ice and non steroid drugs like ibuprophen.

alright !! no offense to Jetes but he needs rest anyway plus in a playful but truthful way people more Gonzo at SS meaning better up the middle defense

He needs some days off. He hasn’t been hitting well lately and has been letting some groundballs thru. Gonzo looks pretty good at SS and if matsui can beat his slump and add some offensive punch, Jeter can rest and get ready for the final push.

Good thing about his tendinitus is that you have to keep working it out in treatment. So a couple days off will be good for Jeter, but I don’t expect him to go on the DL. Maybe taking some days as DH or getting pulled mid game. Which isn’t all that bad with Alberto playing defense for Jeter. Jeter has been in a hitting slump anyway, so it’s not like we won games cause of him. Gotta get him nice and healthy for the post season.

commonly referred to as “jumper’s knee.” I think it’s more common among basketball players, but I sure hope the time off gives Jeter some needed rest and hopefully he’ll be back in business soon!
