In case you went to bed early, you missed a great comeback by the Yankees as they stunned the Red Sox 8-7.

Chien-Ming Wang and Josh Beckett could be pitching for the Cy Young Award today. This notebook also has news on the bullpen, Manny being Manny, former Sox fan Phil Franchise and Roger Clemens.

    Classic boston fan,

“A thought occurred to me last night, while I was tossing and turning in bed: I think we’re cosmically destined for failure at every turn. We had our ‘04 championship to keep us from giving up altogether, but what if the Red Sox organization is only meant for failure? It’s just getting a little out of hand now, when we’re only 6 outs from finally capturing the AL east, we give up 6 runs. In ‘03, we’re only a few outs away, and we cough up a major lead. We’re only a win or two from burying the Yankees in ‘78, and we lose all four.

I finally figured out this is where we’re supposed to be, always-close-but-never-there. In return, we get the Patriots and the Celtics, two organizations that are winners.

    I fear, sad but true.”

You almost start to feel sorry for them. Born losers.

i think it should be sabbathia, for what it’s worth.

I really dont think Wang or Beckett will win the Cy Young. It’ll be Sabathia.

    Pete,

The rain is starting to subside in the Providence area, what is the weather like in the Hub?

    Hey guys!!
Long time reader, first time poster. I’d never thought I’d actually post on here but last nights’ win over the saux…well, I still have a huge grin on my face that I can’t seem to get off and I want to enjoy this series and the rest of this season (and hopefully, many more to come) with my fellow Yankee fans.

Allow me in your Yankee family and I swear I won’t disapoint :)

oh and BTW, how do you get your name in bold print

Sabathia deserves the Cy Young this year.

It’ll probably go to Wang or Beckett. I hope it’s Wang.

    Lissette-

You need to have a link in the website box when you comment. that makes your name bold and clickable =]

As much as I’d like to see Chien-Ming Wang get redemption for coming in 2nd last year and hopefully he will, C.C. Sabathia has been highly instrumental in Cleveland making one year wonders out of Detroit.

    thank you DMan

Daniel Malloy (Boston Globe) on Papelbon last night
“He made his escape from the Red Sox clubhouse quickly after last night’s game, eluding a pack of reporters as he slid out the door.”

I am just glad we have Mo.

The longer I follow the Yankees the more I come to revere what #42 means to this team and to baseball in general. Considering the fact that after he gave up the winning run the 2001 WS, he stood around and answered every question from every reporter for as long as they wished. The same for 1997 when Sandy A. hi the homer for the Indians.

Don’t dismiss Manny because of the oblique pull. It’s a real nasty injury that can linger and truly make your life miserable. I yanked mine a year back and didn’t recover for over a month. During that time my right arm was near useless for any heavy lifting.

After throwing more than 40 pitches in a 13-minute bullpen session, Roger Clemens said, “I’m on.”

  15. Dr. Acula September 16th, 2007 at 6:30 pm

Joe Torre was also upbeat about Rocket’s work.

“My foot’s holding up fine, and for me that’s where it starts and ends,” said the seven time Cy Young winner.

Clemens has not lost in Fenway since 1996.

  16. Dr. Acula September 16th, 2007 at 6:30 pm

Clemens returns to Fenway for the first time since the Game 3 struggle in the 2003 ACLS. “I think we’ll see Boston more than three times,” said Clemens, alluding to post season play.

“When you have two teams very good at what they do, fighting for the same thing, that makes for more excitement.”
