    i loves me a pre-sale password…

  2. gayle

Got my pre sale password for partial season ticket holders the other day Wednesday is going to be crazy as it always is when the tickets go on sale for ticketholders. As for postseason i go for single seat I usually end up with pretty decent seasts.

  3. Potch

    Pete,

Many thanks for the heads up sir! I had no idea and just registered. You rock, sir!

  4. Bill from NJ

Wednesday? I thought it started on Tuesday at 10 am for partial ticket season holders.

Can someone clarify or is gayle incorrect?

  5. jennifer 27 in 07

I think i’m going to hedge my bets and wait for the big game :D

  6. Seth

It feels so good to be hearing about playoff ticket information! Sounds like it was a great game today and I hate that I missed it. Moose has 250 career wins and in honor of Joba’s first career save, here goes…”and another gone and another one gone, another one bites the dust!”

Did you realize that the Yankees are only 2 games out of being the NUMBER ONE SEED in the AL ? That is right….CLE is exactly 2 games ahead of us and we own the tiebreaker against them. If ANYONE thinks that the Yankees as the NUMBER ONE SEED versus the Yankees being the NUMBER 4 SEED is not something to shoot for over the next 7 games….that person needs some help, really !

  11. egg

    May 29: Boston’s lead was 14.5 games.

    September 23: Boston’s lead is 1.5 games.

    You gotta love it!

  12. Jeff NJ

My partial season ticket package is grandfathered, so I have tickets to home game in the first two rounds and WS game two if they get that far. Looks like home game two for the ALDS will be Monday Oct. 8th.

I’m not in a rush for that to get here, playoffs are stressful, I’m going to enjoy the last week where it is pressure free. I encourage you to do the same.

  13. Dr. Acula

    Hey!

Next year we host the All-Star-Game

The house will be rockin, especially when Jaba takes the mound as the AL Starter!!

  14. No Wang On Turf

Um before A.L.D.S. tickets are printed out, I just want to know this:

Wang isn’t starting on Tampa Bay’s artificial turf, right?

The Yanks i.e. Torre can’t put his ace in danger of getting hurt on it, he just can’t. The Yanks are too close to have it all fall to pieces, cuz that’s what will happen if Wang gets hurt in T.B.

Also A-Rod should start 2 of the 3 in T.B. as DH (rest him tomorrow night or Wednesday) so he doesn’t get hurt fielding on that damn turf. He’d have plenty of time to play 3B in Baltimore to get ready for the A.L.D.S.

Now it’s about protecting the irreplaceable players.

  15. No Wang On Turf

BTW when is Game 1 of the A.L.D.S. for the Yanks, 10/3? If 10/3, Wang could start in Baltimore 9/28 and pitch Game 1 on normal rest. If 10/4, Wang could start in Baltimore 9/28 and pitch Game 1 on an extra day’s rest. Ideally it’s 10/4 so the Yanks can start Wang 9/29 in case of a rainout 9/28 and he’d still pitch Game 1 on normal rest.

If Game 1 is on 10/3, it presents a dilemma:

Do you start Wang in T.B. 9/27 and risk him getting hurt on artificial turf or do you start him on grass in Baltimore 9/28 and risk a rainout that day? If he starts 9/28 and it rains out, do the Yanks have him pitch a simulated game that day as if he pitched 5 innings? I remember a Yankee did this
    awhile back (Mussina?)

  16. The most fair system

How about this as an idea to distribute tickets?

Whoever buys tickets to at least 27 home games in a year (a third of all home games/ one of every 3 home games) gets first dibs after season ticket holders with plans over 27 games.

I think that’s fair cuz if you attend basically a game a home series, you deserve a ticket over some jerko ff who didn’t attend a game all year who lucks out getting selected to buy tickets from a registration taking seconds while you were actually at the Stadium spending hundreds of dollars on tickets, Cokes, hot dogs, etc. including a $30 cap. WT F?!

  17. Mo

Whoa, dude. You make it sound like the turf is poison. Relax. If it was really so bad it would not still be around.

  18. The most fair system

Yo dude turf could be poison since it’s not a natural surface. If Wang twists his ankle, yeah he could do that i Baltimore/ on grass, but you better believe the injury would be exacerbated by a harder surface than grass which a.t. is, so you relax. He’s one of the 5 most important players on this team (the others being, to me, A-Rod, Mo, Pettitte, and Jeter). I don’t like the Yankees ace starting on it and it’s stupid move to start him on it, you think otherwise, whatever. Artificial turf exists because grass is dead in an indoor stadium. Why they built an indoor stadium when the Florida Marlins play outdoors in Miami (which is just as hot as Tampa if not hotter) is beyond me, but the reality is they can’t/ won’t convert the indoor stadium into an open air one and if they could it’d be at a cost no one’s willing to pay incl./ esp. the team.

If the Yanks begin the postseason 10/4, there’s no reason to start Wang in T.B./ every reason to start him on grass which is easier on the legs. Of course there are more injuries on grass than a.t. but that’s because most ballparks have grass. When a guy gets hurt, it’s a natural injury, you can’t decry the field. They could start him in Baltimore 9/28 and he’d have normal rest even if 9/28 rained out and he had to start the next day. If they started the postseason 10/3, unfortunately they’d probably have to start him in T.B. cuz you can’t chance him starting in Baltimore 9/28 and that game rains out.

  19. fenway

...contrats to the NYY for playing to their level. We (or some of us) knew the April/May NYY were not the same we’d see in August/Sept.

Are the NYY bandwagon jumpers I read on this blog still gone? Didn’t think so.

  20. Sherri

Fenway – some of us have been long-time fans, but just recently discovered this blog! (and love it!)

  21. Jim PA

Artificial turf and who starts when is not as big a problem as who’s in the pen through all of it. Beyond Joba and Mo it’s a freak show. They haven’t met a lead they couldn’t squander. Anybody got Nelson or Stanton’s phone number?

  22. The D train

    Joba’s entrance song :

  23. Bosco

If I don’t get playoff tickets now, I’m holding Peter responsible.

  24. gayle

Wooooo thanks for some reason I had Wednesday written down thanks to all it is Tuesday I would have been mighty peod at myself

  25. DMan

I’ve never been to a playoff game.. I get stressed out enough watching from home, I can’t imagine what it’d be like to actually be there for one!

  26. jennifer 27 in 07

They are stressful. I was at the 2003 world series.

  27. KurticusMaximus

“The Most Fair System”- Artificial turf isn’t a big deal for Wang because he “might twist his ankle.” That’s silly- for one thing, the pitching mound is still dirt, so unless Wang twisted his ankle walking back to the dugout, there’s not much of a problem.

Wang is a ground ball pitcher, and grounders move faster on turf and bounce differently than on grass. Therefore, Wang, like most ground ball pitchers, is less effective on turf than on natural grass, because the defense has a harder time fielding the grounders. That’s the only reason Torre might try to prevent Wang from pitching on turf.

As for the postseason schedule, we won’t know when the Yankees will be starting until somebody locks up the best record in the AL. And, considering all four playoff teams are within 2.5 games of each other, that probably won’t be until the end of the week.

  28. Lori

All I want to know is: IS IT GAME TIME YET??

  29. Tristan

Has anyone been emailed that they’re able to buy post season tickets yet?
