Greetings from Tropicana Field
Here we are, at lovely Tropicana Field.
A few issues to overcome today. For reasons so far unknown, the “R” key on the PowerBook G4 decided not to work. So I went to the Apple Store in Tampa and the guy there said they would have top send it out to get fixed.
That would severely inhibit writing, so I improvised and purchased a keyboard that I could plug into my USB port. It’s working just fine. But if anybody knows how to fix one key, feel free to let me know.
Meanwhile, Roger Clemens is on the field hitting grounders to his son Koby. I would suspect it’s only a matter of time before Koby is playing for the Yankees.
Finally, you may find this funny. WFAN’s Sweeny Murti was picking up his car today when a man came over and told him to throw strikes. Seems the guy thought Sweeny was Edwar Ramirez. According to Sweeny, it’s the second time this has happened.
C’mon, Sweeny has a much better fastball.

Pete didnt the “e”key have the same issue earlier in the year. The Sweeny thing is pretty funny although I dont think they look all that much a like. Also I pressume that if Ropger is hitting grounders he is feeling ok.
I guess Roger is well enough to pitch tonight?
There’s a book called “Gadsby,” written by Ernest Vincent Wright, published sometimes in the late 30s that has no words with the letter “e” in it. 50,000 words without the most commonly used letter in the English language. Now if he can pull that off, I think you can post a few updates without the the letter “r.”
If the key is sticking, you can pop it off and clean the area out with a cotton swab and alcohol. Otherwise don’t mess with it. Send it in and use another company notebook in the meantime.
You mean we have the same computer? SWEET!
Anyway.
I don’t know how to ‘fix’ a key, but when I had a similar problem with my previous laptop, when the key cap came off, I just took a piece of scotch tape and put it over the little thingie…
I know Mac keyboards are replaceable, but I’m not sure how to do it.
You might want to check out http://macintosh.livejournal.com, they can probably tell you loads more than me.
Edwar wears those funky glasses
Yup, Pete took the road I would have taken. I would have just bought a new keyboard too.

Pete,
What do you think the yankees will have to do to get Kobe? Is this just speculation on your part or do you really think that he wants his son in our organization?
clemens is the guy i want on the mound for tonight’s game . he’ll attack until his tank runs dry . no surrender .
I think he’s joking.
Roger still has a personal services contract with the Astros (whatever that is). From what I hear this year’s class of players’ sons for HWB is the real deal. Not saying that Koby isn’t good, but you know…
is kobe even that good? i thought he was still in single a
Not for nothing, but Murti and Ramirez look nothing alike.
Pete,I’m not sure about your computer but I’m pretty sure Marty Miller had something to do with it.
Whatever happened to Don Mattinglys son? Didn’t the Yankees draft him once?… Am I imagining things?
Just heard on wfan that Kei Igawa starting tonight UGH!!!
Pete, they replaced my iBook keyboard in the store while I waited… if they have it in stock they should be able to do it.
Wouldn’t that be somethin’ if the Clemens dynasty continued in NY?!
igawa throws a no-no 2night…..
peter a-
go into a real apple store (not just a licensed dealer). there’s a real apple store on the second floor of the spiffy international mall next to the airport. purchase the $99 pro care plan:http://www.apple.com/retail/procare/
for one year that puts you at the head of the line when you go in there( or any real apple store). they’ll fix almost everything right on the spot ahead of people that don’t have pro care.
you also get the benefit of an hour a week of lessons free on any topic you choose with one of the “genius” bar employees. great for learning new tricks on the mac.
i lost my hard drive and motherboard( major problems) and they put in new ones that day. i walked around the mall a bit ,came back and it was done.
I have seen Koby Clemens play 3 times in Greensboro and he is decent, but far from great. I think it is a HUGE stretch to think that he will ever make it to the Major Leagues.
Unless Sweeny was wearing goggles I don’t see how two people could make that mistake.
I have fanagled a plush squirrel and Velro-ed it onto my NY Yankee hat so I too can stand up in a crowd unashamedly and yell GO SCOOTER! GO YANKS! We Wanna Ring! We Wanna Ring!
That explains the “New Yok” in your blog entry.
I’m pitching tonight. Wish me luck!
“is kobe even that good? i thought he was still in single a”
Nate, Koby is still with the Astros’ single A club here in Lexington, and is expected to start here again next year (based on an end-of-season report in our paper).
Koby is going to have to perform a heck of a lot better if he’s going to follow in his dad’s footsteps and make it in pro ball, whether it is with Houston, the Yankees or anybody else. His stats from this past year can be seen here:

You need a MacBook Pro, Peter. The old non-Intel Macs won’t run the new system software (Leopard). Tell the boss to spring for one, or if you have to buy it yourself, check out the refurbs online at the Apple Store.
See you at the Columbia after the game (I wish!)
I don’t know if you saw this, but I think Sweeny is done being mistaken for Edwar:

The keyboard should be replaceable. My old PowerBook’s keyboard had to be replaced and I bought a new keyboard for $80 bucks.
solution: go buy a sony vaio!
eff macs
didn’t your ‘E’ key go during spring training?
