A small surprise, since Matsui is 0 for 9 vs. CC and CC is tough on lefties.

Anyone who thought in July that should the Yanks rebound to make the playoffs that the postseason roster would include Joba, Veras, Duncan, Sardinha, Ohlendorf and Veras raise your hand.

I thought so.

Hopefully, Wang has work hard on these off days so that he is not too strong on his start. His problem, as of late, is that he has been getting the fastball up in the zone and it is getting smashed.

Disagree on the lineup- would’ve opted for Duncan IPO Matsui for game 1, but hopefully Torre's decision proves sound.

The Yankees are formidable so if the offense performs at 90% of what they’re capable of and the starting pitching gives them a decent 6+ innings, the Yankees will emerge victorious.

Any predictions out there?? I say Yankees in 5-games, with a loss in the first game. As far as I remember Wang hardly ever pitches well on too much rest- he is too strong so his sinker doesn’t sink.

No way! I'm in shock. Absolute shock. (That's a good thing).

I didn't want Villone, but I can't help but feel a little bad for him:

“I heard it last night, but I didn’t even think about it, not for one second, Villone said yesterday after a workout at Yankee Stadium, before the Yankees flew to Cleveland. “I’m thinking about Travis Hafner and Grady Sizemore, the guys I’m going to be facing, who can run, what their strengths are.

No point in carrying a lefty when all your lefties are bad. Cashman made the right move there.

NO lefty in the pen. Having a Loogy in the pen did not work out. Give me a righty who can get both lefties and righties out any day. Torre had problems with making too many moves to use the Loogy anyway, so this helps Torre manage smarter.
