Wang didn't. Its easy for the entire team to look bad when your starting pitching is awful. The playoffs are about pitching. They aren't going to pound the ball like they did in the regular season. Its not how it works. The opposing pitching is much better. The Yankees have to match it . Last night, they didn't. Its a 4-3 game in the 5th, they have momentum, and Wang wasn't able to get the job done. That's the game. If Pettitte pitches well tonight, they have a great chance. If not, tee times will be in place next week. Somebody has to step up and pitch like they aren't afraid of the moment. They have the best possible option in that regard going tonight. Just have to hope he can get the job done as he has in the past in these situations. The team showed up last night. Wang didn’t.

The Yanks lost game 1 of the ALDS in 2000, 2001, 2003, and 2004 and won all of those series. I can remember the panic that ensued in ALL of those series when they dropped the first game. The time during that 5 year stretch that they won the first game (2002) they ended up losing the next 3 games in a row! True, that does not mean they're guaranteed to win this series, but baseball is a game of confidence. Believe me, the team knows about all the historical statistics.
