Interview room schedule

Posted by: Peter Abraham - Posted in Misc on Oct 04, 2007 Print This Post Print This Post | Email This Post Email This Post

If you’re following along on MLB.com, here’s the interview room schedule for the Yanks:

4:05 p.m.: Derek Jeter

4:15 p.m.: Andy Pettitte

Not sure if (or when) Joe Torre is doing his thing. He’s talking to the beat writers at 4 p.m.

———-

On a personal note, today was the first day I really had the chance to listen to the new Bruce Springsteen record. Magic is not quite as guitar-driven as I hoped but there are four tremendous songs: Devil’s Arcade, Radio Nowhere, Girls In Their Summer Clothes and Living In The Future.

I’m sure I’ll figure out a few more I like. That’s usually how it works. Suffice it to say, I’m eager to see some shows in person when I get a chance.

There are worse things in life than sitting in the front row of the press box on a sunny day before a big game listening to new music you really like. I think of better things, trust me. But there have been worse days.

Pete, I got my Magic today! I gave it first, precursory, listen, without reading the lyrics. On first listen, I just liked the overall feel of the album (CD). I can’t wait to get a chance to really delve. With Bruce, eventually you have to read the lyrics.

I’m watching the Phillies game and there is some speculation by the Phillies media that one of the Rockies pitchers was doing something illegal. Before he came in the game he “drank” out of a cup of water tossed some down his neck, than put some on the front of his jersey and tapped it there. Looked quite strange. They also said that he went to the wet spot on his jersey throughout the inning.

Video is up and running on mlb.com.

Peter…check out You’ll be comin down. Listen to it twice and it’ll get stuck in your head. Awesome cd overall.

  5. JeterForPresident October 4th, 2007 at 3:57 pm

Pete, I am loving the album, good thing you reminded us it was released the other day. It isn’t quite as good as The Rising was, imho, but that was one of my favorite albums of all times. Honestly, with the state of music today, anything Bruce puts out is going to be better than most of the junk put out nowadays.

On the Yankees front, I am hoping all is well with Doug, we need the glove tonight with Wanger on the mound.

  6. mel October 4th, 2007 at 3:57 pm

Something about Corpas rubbing dirt in the wet spot.

  7. mel October 4th, 2007 at 3:59 pm

I don’t care what the experts say about Holliday, Rollins is the NL MVP. He called it in the spring that they would win the east, and he willed it to happen. 3 rbi’s today in 2 at-bats.

  8. Gayle October 4th, 2007 at 3:59 pm

Pete thanks for posting the schedule can you do this on a daily basis for those of us following along. Agree on the Bruce record for me after Gypsy Biker is where it is at in terms of really good stuff

  9. jennifer 27 in 07 October 4th, 2007 at 4:00 pm

Also, I hung around in the dugout yesterday with Brian Cashman. He told a funny story about one year when the Yankees clinched a division series in Texas. They used cheap champagne and the whole team broke out in huge red blotches.

    from nyt blog. LOL

    Jennifer – Where on MLB.COM?

  11. A Tampa Yankee in King George's Court October 4th, 2007 at 4:01 pm

I think it was Gatorade that Corpas “spilled” on his jersey and then later he rubbed his hand on the exact spot where the Gatorade was.

Pete – check out this week’s NY Times Music podcast. Last couple of minutes are an “interview” with Bruce. It’s hilarious; he talks on and on about the music and the interviewer (A.O. Scott) spends most of the time saying “mmhmm.” Great stuff from the Boss.

  13. Gayle October 4th, 2007 at 4:02 pm

go to yankees.com and the link is right on the front page where it says postseason conferenfes

  14. Dave K October 4th, 2007 at 4:03 pm

    Thank you Gayle!

    Great album indeed!

I’ve been listening quite a bit over the past few days. My 3 year old daughter really likes Livin in the Future!

  16. JeterForPresident October 4th, 2007 at 4:04 pm

wow, they have Derek Jeter, and no questions, surprising. I guess they have realized he won’t answer the questions about what A-Rod needs to do this postseason.

  17. jennifer 27 in 07 October 4th, 2007 at 4:04 pm

Go to yankees.com, you’ll see it right on the front page. YOu just missed DJ but there weren’t many questions for him.

  18. jennifer 27 in 07 October 4th, 2007 at 4:11 pm

Anyone know what the ratings were for last nights Sox game? I hope they tanked espically since they gave them prime time games!!

  19. Gayle October 4th, 2007 at 4:12 pm

a camera man rolled over his ankle according to WFAN and they think he will be ok. I want that camera mans name and number

  20. wood is good October 4th, 2007 at 4:12 pm

Song titles go in quotes, album titles are italized.

    – Jerky Proofreader

  21. jennifer 27 in 07 October 4th, 2007 at 4:13 pm

Gayle if he comes to Yankee Stadium we should hang him upside down by his toes on the bat.

  22. J-Dawg--Veintisiete en '07 October 4th, 2007 at 4:13 pm

I think that Kenny Rogers should have a word with THAT cameraman!! :)

  23. mel October 4th, 2007 at 4:16 pm

The cameraman’s name is Kenny Rogers. They’ve id’ed him by the tattoo on his palm.

  24. saucy October 4th, 2007 at 4:17 pm

radio nowhere was on the radio this morning when getting ready for work and it’s been in my head since. i can’t stand that song…

  25. new girl October 4th, 2007 at 4:19 pm

Is the cameraman a Giambi fan? I can’t think of any other reason he’d target Mient… It’s not like he looks like A-rod or anything.

But I’m sure it was just an “accident.” ;)

  26. Rebecca--27 in 07! Nothing beats Optimism! October 4th, 2007 at 4:19 pm

So, can we have the game post yet? =D

  27. jennifer 27 in 07 October 4th, 2007 at 4:19 pm

Stupid *ss mlb missed the begining of Andy’s interview.

  28. Ken October 4th, 2007 at 4:20 pm

I agree with some others that Magic doesn’t quite approach The Rising. It doesn’t have the same combination of soul, heartache, and hope, but I’m not sure any other recording ever could.
But Magic is still a beautiful, powerful record. Just the like the ’99 Yanks were a great championship team, but they weren’t the ’98 team. Team like that comes once in a lifetime.
“Last to Die” and “Long Walk Home” are powerful. From set lists of rehearsals and the Hartford show, those two songs form the final 2/3rds of a trio that starts with “The Rising.” Wow.
Going to see him here in Philly on Saturday. Can’t hardly wait.

    Go Yanks!

  29. Dave K October 4th, 2007 at 4:21 pm

Are there any other player interviews after Andy? Is there a schedule somewhere that I am missing or just from what Pete posted?

    Thanks in advance

  30. jennifer 27 in 07 October 4th, 2007 at 4:21 pm

Can we stop talking about Andy’s elbow!! Geez!!

  31. mel October 4th, 2007 at 4:22 pm

Don’t they archive the interviews? They do for the NBA postseason.

  32. Aaron October 4th, 2007 at 4:22 pm

    Is Bruce a Yanks fan?

  33. Gayle October 4th, 2007 at 4:24 pm

yes they are archived if you go to mlb.com and then go to audio/video you will see a listing of it

  34. mel October 4th, 2007 at 4:28 pm

Thanks, Gayle. By the time it loads up, the interviews are done!

  35. asburyboss October 4th, 2007 at 4:28 pm

“Terry’s Song”, song #12 is great too…for totally different reasons…”Last To Die” and “I’ll Work For Yoru Love” are strong.

“Radio Nowhere” live is an instant classic- and great show opener

  36. Clay Buchholz stole my laptop, and David Ortiz stole my cheeseburger (aka Joe) October 4th, 2007 at 4:29 pm

Bruce has been to many Yankee games throughout the past 20 years or so. He even went into the clubhouse a few years ago and gave Bernie Williams a signed guitar.

He once did an interview the morning after the 1998 World Series. According to the interviewer Bruce wouldn’t stop talking about the Yankees.

  37. mel October 4th, 2007 at 4:29 pm

Wow, top of the 4th and the manager’s going to bring in a pinch hitter for the pitcher’s spot with men in scoring position.

  38. jennifer 27 in 07 October 4th, 2007 at 4:32 pm

WOW he is taking out his pitcher!! Now this game is taking forever!! What happens if it runs past 6:30?

  39. will October 4th, 2007 at 4:32 pm

off topic, but it’s always funny seeing links like this on espn

If the Twins decide to trade ace Johan Santana, they should talk to the Dodgers, Angels, Mets and any other interested team. Buster Olney

great piece of advice. if the twins decide to trade a player, they should talk to any interested teams.
i wonder if he’s also an expert in nameiology.

  40. mel October 4th, 2007 at 4:33 pm

Now, Manuel is changing his pitcher.

  41. John L October 4th, 2007 at 4:36 pm

“What happens if it runs past 6:30?”

Yanks game should start on TNT in that case.

  42. CountryClub October 4th, 2007 at 4:38 pm

Pete, add Long Walk Home & You’ll Be Coming Down to your list. Like you, I was expecting more of a guitar driven CD. But now that I’m over that fact I really dig it.

  43. Andrea October 4th, 2007 at 4:38 pm

will: I was in class and there were several people (not just one) who used symbology in a serious manner.

Mind you, I am in an English masters program. At NYU. a fairly competative program.

  44. mel October 4th, 2007 at 4:38 pm

Oops. Wrong move, Charlie. Grand Slam.

  45. jennifer 27 in 07 October 4th, 2007 at 4:45 pm

Mel, Just thought the same thing. How do you pull your starter who while isn’t spot on, isn’t doing horribly. Talk about being second guessed.

  46. will October 4th, 2007 at 4:50 pm

you would think that enough people have seen that movie to know better. especially college kids. you sort of just have to laugh.

  47. Scott October 4th, 2007 at 4:52 pm

Hey Pete. As far as Magic is concerned, i think every song is good except for Gypsy Biker and Magic. Just give it a few more listens. Also I’m not sure if you know, but there is an extra track (#12 Terry’s song) that is not listed on the back of the cd. It was written for Terry Maovern, a friend and personal assistant of bruce. http://www.brucespringsteen.ne.....overn.html

But i Must say, “Girls In Their Summer Clothes” is probably the best on the album

  48. BomberBill October 4th, 2007 at 5:37 pm

Here’s to the Yankees rocking Cleveland the same as Colorado is ringing Philly’s bell!
