Waitin’ on a sunny day in Cleveland
It’s 75 degrees and mid-summer sunny here in Cleveland. Just walked over from the hotel (to the sound of the new Springsteen record) and couldn’t believe how nice it was.
It’s supposed to get up to 86 degrees tomorrow.
Meanwhile, you know who’s ready for the playoffs? Joba Chamberlain, that’s who. Joba is out in right field as I write this at 2:34 p.m. running sprints by himself.
In talking to the Yankee minor-league people and his coach at Nebraska, Joba is very dedicated to his conditioning program. He’s dropped 75 pounds since high school and knows that is one of the reasons he got to the big leagues at the age of 21.
The moment he takes the mound will be riveting. Joba faced Cleveland back on Aug. 10 in his second game and threw two perfect innings. He fanned Trot Nixon, Josh Barfied, Grady Sizemore and Kenny Lofton on 18 pitches.

75 lbs since high school?! does anyone have a picture of him back then???
The Boys of October are ready. Play ball!!!
WOW!! Joba, you go, boy!!!!
Lets go Yankees! 3 more hours (give or take) till game time!
my stomach is churning with nervousness! an early lead would really help the alcohol intake for the evening! if it’s tight the whole game, I may be too hungover to come to work tomorrow!
Peter,
what’s the feeling like in the clubhouse? do they seem confident?
