Just spoke to Ron Villone, who confirmed that he has been added to the roster.

“I found out an hour ago,” the lefty said. “I’ve kept myself prepared and whatever I can give them, I’ll be ready to give them.”

Has he been in NY? Or was he in Fla?

  2. Truck

Let’s hope he comes up blazing like a Rocket when/if we use him.

  3. Bill from NJ

Prob NY… I know hes from NJ, so he may live here anyways.

  4. MikeD

Wow, that quote from Villone is really oozing with confidence

  5. GOOM

i like vilone he plays good with a lead

  6. Franklyn

you can tell how much he really cares about the team

  7. CGramazio

Villone was on the bench last night, he was always there.

  8. Enter Sandman

No real surprise at least for this series. He is a “gamer” and if called upon will give it his best shot. Commonly known as a good teammate.

  9. Frank

who is our long man tonight if Wang cannot get it done…Villone?

  10. Thomas

Long man will be Mussina. Villone may help with trying to get the lefties out.

  11. VOIII

    Frank,
    long man = Moose

  12. Chris NY

Hopefully we’ll only see Wang and Mo on the mound tonight. Or, even better, Wang and anyone else besides Mo and Joba for an inning or two if we can put up a huge lead and save those two for game 5…

  13. Jeter's future wife

Michael Wilbon on PTI just said it’s ridiculous for Wanger to pitch in the playoffs on 3 days rest. I like to call it 3.5 days rest!

  14. Yankees Chick

I like Villone a lot….. I think he worked really hard (even if it was with limited success) during Spring Training and in the minors this year to try to earn a spot on the roster. I appreciate that kind of spirit.

Sorry if I missed this somewhere on here or ESPN or somewhere (school and work makes me “search every website every hour” plan a little tricky, heheh), but has anything been said about Moose pitching tomorrow (or ever)?

  15. Ed FL

    CGramazio,
Villone lives in NJ, probably one the reason he was chosen to fill the roster. Practically no time delay. I am not sure he was at the bench last night. I thought people not on the roster could not sit on the bench. Did you actually see Villone or you were told by a friend.

You have a pretty cool website

  16. Matthew Cohen

crap – I’d rather have Kennedy.

  17. Bob Michaels

I was right and you were wrong

  18. Jim Clark

What does it matter? The Yankees could be up by 11 runs (as they were in Game 3 of the 2004 ALCS) and Torre would still use a pitcher from his small circle of friends. Why not reactivate Guidry or Ed Ford?
