Stoneman to resign as Angels GM

According to the L.A. Times, Bill Stoneman is about to resign as the general manager of the Angels. Given that the Angels are a presumed suitor should A-Rod become a free agent, it’s an interesting development. Stoneman is usually fairly conservative.

Meanwhile, another fine outing by Daisuke Matsuzaka tonight. 101 pitches and four runs in 4.2 innings. If Boston loses, the Red Sox would be 18-16 in games Matsuzaka started this season.

Those teams in Japan must be laughing in their sake. The Red Sox and Yankees dropped $150 million on Matsuzaka and Kei Igawa. One guy is a No. 3 starter (maybe) and the other a minor leaguer.
