And he wonders why he got booed at game 4!

  2. Joe D October 23rd, 2007 at 6:06 pm

A flip-flopping idiot, and as such, I consider him a Sux fan now. Political j@#k-off

  3. Reflaxion October 23rd, 2007 at 6:06 pm

I am not voting for Rudy Guiliani.

Of course, I wasn’t going to vote for him before, but I’m not going to vote for him even harder now.

  4. SJ44 October 23rd, 2007 at 6:08 pm

Any Yankee fan who is rooting for the Red Sox is not a Yankee fan.

What a joke. He can suck up for the NE vote, its still not going to get him the White House.

    Thank God.

  5. gargoyle October 23rd, 2007 at 6:08 pm

    F you Rudy.

  6. J-Dawg October 23rd, 2007 at 6:10 pm

    Rudy Giuliani= Benedict Arnold.

  7. migames October 23rd, 2007 at 6:11 pm

Mr Rudy sucks, he sucked before and he sucks after. The only thing he had going for him was his loyality to the yanks. Now he f*ed that one too. What a bunch of bullcrap.

    Mr. Rudy sucks

  8. james_ca October 23rd, 2007 at 6:11 pm

Meh, he probably just wants to be associated with a winner. Can’t blame him for that.

  9. Master Wangkee October 23rd, 2007 at 6:11 pm

My vote’s for Obama. What’s he a Cubbies fan?

  10. Rebecca--Nothing Beats Optimism October 23rd, 2007 at 6:12 pm

“Any Yankee fan who is rooting for the Red Sox is not a Yankee fan.”

    Nothing else need be said.

Anyway, I’m voting Colbert. (Or if not, someone not named Rudy or Hillary…)

  11. Yankees Chick October 23rd, 2007 at 6:13 pm

I am only a recent resident of NY, but as far as I can tell new yorkers were the only ones who werent as sick of Rudy as the rest of the country was. way to go rudy – now you’ve isolated the only people that kind of liked you!

  12. kd October 23rd, 2007 at 6:14 pm

    jerk

  13. migames October 23rd, 2007 at 6:16 pm

obama is actually a White Sox fan: southsider

  14. EricNS October 23rd, 2007 at 6:17 pm

    What a phony!!!

  15. Giuseppe Franco October 23rd, 2007 at 6:17 pm

Politics has no place on this blog or in sports. Trying to figure out how to fix the Yanks is divisive enough.

  16. Pepper Brooks October 23rd, 2007 at 6:17 pm

    Il Duce strikes again….

Rumor has it he did it on a double dare from Randy Levine.

  17. Jack Knight October 23rd, 2007 at 6:18 pm

Are you kidding Rudy? You’re dead to me. DEAD.

  18. Pepper Brooks October 23rd, 2007 at 6:20 pm

I know it was you Rudy. You broke my heart. You broke my heart!

  19. DLev October 23rd, 2007 at 6:22 pm

Well, I’ve been a Yankee fan since 1967. I had every intention of rooting against the Red Sox, and have rejoiced while my 4 yr. old daughter marches down the street here where a couple of houses have Red Sox banners out front, shouting as she goes “They’re gonna lose, they’re gonna lose. But the NY Times article this morning about how Colorado is the most Christian team in MLB, has changed my mind. The last thing I want to hear, even more than Sox gloating, is how Jesus came through for the Rockies. Yuck. I may even have to start rooting against our local minor league team, which is owned by the Rockies. (I do root for Charleston when they come to town).

  20. migames October 23rd, 2007 at 6:23 pm

breaking news: Mrs. Hilary says she forgives Ms. Monica. Hilary doesnt want to lose the interns who have relationship with presidents voting block.

  21. Buddy Biancalana October 23rd, 2007 at 6:24 pm

and I thought that Schilling stumping for Bush was a joke, though they are both jackasses. Gotta love when these guys show their true stripes.

  22. Reflaxion October 23rd, 2007 at 6:26 pm

DLev, the Dynasty team had a strong religious element to it, and nobody talks about how Jesus helped them win.

I think it was Chad Curtis who led the prayer sessions.

  23. stuart October 23rd, 2007 at 6:26 pm

Levine was rudy’s chief of staff.. rudy is he stupid people in new england would vote for him even if he was a yankee fan if he was not such a phony…..

    politicians fakeness never suprises me…

  24. Keith October 23rd, 2007 at 6:26 pm

    As phony as a 3-dollar bill. Who needs a turncoat/rat/flip-flopper as a prez ?
Here’s another vote down the toilet.

  25. DLev October 23rd, 2007 at 6:31 pm

I know there’s plenty of religion on the yankees, and the red sox, and all the other teams. Mo and Pettite, two of my favorites, are probably the most religious guy on the Yankees from what I understand, but I don’t hear them making a fuss about it.

As for Curtis, I prayed every day they’d get rid of him.

  26. Dave October 23rd, 2007 at 6:31 pm

wow! Whatever votes he may have recieved from NY he just lost. Way to go loser – u flip flopped your way right out of some votes.

  27. Tommy October 23rd, 2007 at 6:39 pm

This is actually the first honest statement Giuliani has uttered in decades!
SJ44: I disagree with you for the first time since I’ve read this blog.

DLEV: I’m glad to see someone else has a problem with the Rockies organization.
I am also an AL fan who would normally make anexception since it is Boston, but Colorado?
    NoWay!

  28. Tucson Ken October 23rd, 2007 at 6:42 pm

Who gives a rats ### about Rudy or who he root for, but certainly no Yankee fan could possibly root for Boston.

  29. saucy October 23rd, 2007 at 6:42 pm

not for nothing, but if something like this changes the way someone intended to vote, they shouldn’t be voting.

  30. BBB October 23rd, 2007 at 6:56 pm

Good, he can enjoy chasing MA & RI’s electoral votes then – he just kissed NY and NJ’s goodbye!

Now I am not gonna vote for him. I don’t take voting very seriously, cause I figure if voting actually changed anything, it would be illegal. To me it is so meaningless that I was gonna vote for Rudy just cause he’s a Yankee fan. But, so much for that – now I’m voting for LeBron as a write in. I bet HE’S not rooting for the Red Sox!

  31. RyanB October 23rd, 2007 at 7:03 pm

just another reason to hate Rudy!

  32. 56Bomber October 23rd, 2007 at 7:11 pm

    How far Rudy has fallen.

  33. Mehdi hates Randy LEvine October 23rd, 2007 at 7:16 pm

    Flip Flopper.

  34. Ray October 23rd, 2007 at 7:25 pm

This posting will probably provoke the typical “troll” accusations but that’s okay. When LeBron James wore the Yankees hat in Cleveland to the Indian/Yankee game I didn’t notice that a single person in here had a problem with that. Interesting that it was okay for James to go against the hometown, but not okay for Guliani because it is against the beloved Yankees.

  35. jennifer October 23rd, 2007 at 7:27 pm

Rudy is an ass. I am a Yankee fan, No way in HELL would I root for the red soxs!

  36. PittsburghYankeeFan October 23rd, 2007 at 7:32 pm

    Wow

    He just lost my vote.

No Yankee fan would ever root for the Red Sox, except maybe to beat the Angels and keep them out of the postseason.

  37. Global Warming October 23rd, 2007 at 7:33 pm

    I despise Rudy.

  38. Boston Dave October 23rd, 2007 at 7:37 pm

its not just that he’s rooting for the Sox…. but how intelligent can someone be if they say that in public? does he not know that this will infuriate NY fans? on top of that, Massachusetts ONLY votes for democrats. he is wasting his breath trying to suck up to MA residents. what a loser.

  39. Boston Dave October 23rd, 2007 at 7:41 pm

    # saucy October 23rd, 2007 at 6:42 pm

“not for nothing, but if something like this changes the way someone intended to vote, they shouldn’t be voting.”

I completely disagree. you have to question Rudy’s intelligence and his, for lack of a better word, sliminess by abandoning his home state and “beloved” Yankees just to get a few cheers at a Boston conference. I follow politics very closely and this absolutely loses Rudy some major points in my book.

  40. hmmm October 23rd, 2007 at 7:59 pm

“When LeBron James wore the Yankees hat in Cleveland to the Indian/Yankee game I didn’t notice that a single person in here had a problem with that. Interesting that it was okay for James to go against the hometown, but not okay for Guliani because it is against the beloved Yankees.”

LeBron wore a Yankee hat b/c he is a Yankee fan. he plays BASKETBALL for Cleveland. he is a yankee fan. the yankees play BASEBALL.

Giuliani claims to be a Yankee fan. and now is rooting for the red sox.

do i really need to explain how these 2 situations are in no way similar?

  41. susan mullen October 23rd, 2007 at 8:07 pm

The NY Times considers Christianity the greatest scourge of our existence. As soon as I saw their article (about the Colorado Rockies) I thought, someone is going to buy this angle and think less of the team as a result. Too bad. It’s been written about other places before with the same intention. I’ve also read players’ reactions in other articles and they say they don’t notice the Christianity thing there. If that’s really your issue, you’ll find many players engaging in prayer that you never thought would do so. For example, Rob Dibble. I’ve heard him say on XM that he lead prayer groups when he was a player. So, is he bad too? I’m just saying, it’s a broader subject than just taking the NY Times’ word for it.

  42. Dr. Acula October 23rd, 2007 at 8:16 pm

    Another Affair!!

This counts as another divorce, I tell ya!

Of course he never loved us, he just used us.

I’am so GLAD he got Booooed during Game #2. – corrupt, incompetent, racist, two-timing Red Sox fanboy!

  43. JJNJ October 23rd, 2007 at 8:19 pm

Yeah okay Rudy, if you were “loyal to New York” you wouldn’t be rooting for the Sox, j@ckass.

I wasn’t voting for him anyway. Oh and I thoroughly enjoyed the boos at Game 4 :)

  44. Jim Clark October 23rd, 2007 at 8:31 pm

Guiliani rooting for Ye Olde Towne Team is the funniest thing I’ve seen since Hillary Rodham Clinton wore a Yankee cap at the White House ceremony honoring the 1999 Yankee team. She informed the world she had been a life long Yankee fan since growing up in the Chicago area to go along with her Chicago Cubs. Several years later Michael Kay asked Senator Schumer how come he never sees Senator Clinton at Yankee games.

Colorado could be riding Camels and wearing Turbans with Osama’s picture on them and I would still not route for the BLOWSOX! F…BOSTON!

  46. Dr. Acula October 23rd, 2007 at 8:56 pm

Atleast Hillary didn’t say she was _Red Sox_ fan!

what’s worse: a transplant using convenience or a native committing betrayal

  47. Cumberberg October 23rd, 2007 at 9:05 pm

i’m confused. you mean people are still playing baseball? it can’t be spring training already… winter league?

  48. murphydog October 23rd, 2007 at 9:10 pm

    susan mullen:

You have libeled the NY Times.

The Times does not hate Christianity. The collective mindset of the NY Times edit board distrusts and dislikes both Judaism AND Christianity because it is source of the Judeo-Christian, male dominated, heterosexual Western Tradition of Oppression, or some such liberal politico-speak. The NY Times abhors conservatism and capitalism and instead embraces socialistic domestic policies like national heath care and open borders, along with a foreign policy of pacifism, appeasement of those who hate America and anti-globalism. Add in the de rigueur atheism required of a right-thinking NY Times editor and that pretty much sums it up.

If you are praying, the NY Times figures you are a racist, would deny a woman her “right to choose,” oppose gay marriage and give a man more pay for doing the same job as a woman. (All the things that bad people think and do). Oh, and if you are praying, you’re probably a Republican and need I say more? It certainly doesn’t help the NY Times’ paranoia that the sport of baseball is male-dominated.

So, let’s be clear. The Times does not hate practicing Christians. They hate practicing Jews too.

  49. Tommy October 23rd, 2007 at 9:42 pm

This issue with the Rockies has been covered long before today’s article.
Nobody is denying an individual’s right to worship.
    Have at it!
The Rockies, as an organization, have made statements that have not so subtle implications.
These implications reflect what some believe to be dangerous trends, far beyond the game of Baseball.
The Rockies may be a private organization, but not in the conventional sense.

The NYT, while not the NAtional Review, is far from the liberal institution you portray. That is a myth.

  50. BBB October 23rd, 2007 at 9:55 pm

OK, I just have to ask. Why would someone root against the Rockies just because they are Christians? They’re not trying to convert you, are they?

No? Then what’s the problem? Live and let live, right? Besides, even though I do not believe in any organized religion myself, better Christianity than coke and hookers, which is what they may well be doing if they weren’t praying.

Regardless of religion, the Rockies are an exciting and talented team who are on an amazing run. And are about to hopefully beat the snot out of the Massachucetts Mercenaries. How could any one of us root against THAT?! :) GO ROCKIES!!!!

  51. Frank Discussion October 23rd, 2007 at 10:08 pm

I won’t root for either team, it’s fun watching a game you don’t have any vested interest in. Less stressful as well.
That being said, I don’t think Boston will have much difficulty with Colorado.

As for Rudy, who could be surprised with a politician being a hypocrite?

Remember, no matter who you vote for, government wins.

  52. Pat October 23rd, 2007 at 10:23 pm

are you freakin kidding me?! This disgusts me! He shouldn’t be allowed back into his box next season. He just lost my vote which I was seriously going to give him

  53. DLev October 23rd, 2007 at 10:32 pm

    Quotes from the Rockies:

Club President Keli McGregor: “God’s using us in a powerful way.”

former Rocky Mike Sweeney on his time as a Rocky: “You wonder if some people are going along with it just to keep their jobs. Look, I pray every day. I have faith. It’s always been part of my life. But I don’t want something forced on me. Do they really have to check to see whether I have a Playboy in my locker?”

GM O’Dowd: “You look at some of those games we’re winning. Those aren’t just a coincidence. God has definitely had a hand in this.”

CEO Montfort: “I think character-wise we’re stronger than anyone in baseball. Christians, and what they’ve endured, are some of the strongest people in baseball. I believe God sends signs, and we’re seeing those.”

As much as it pained me to tell my daughter I was rooting for the Sox this series (which means I’ll glance at the sports section the morning after the game and say “Good,” and go on to figuring out whether A-Rod is coming back) I hope Big Papi smites the Rockies. I can go back to hating the Sox in four games.

  54. eelz October 23rd, 2007 at 11:01 pm

    what a tool.

  55. Sylvia October 24th, 2007 at 1:50 am

Did the Boston fan believe him? Wanna see him in WS at Fenway. How does the sox fan react to Giuliani?

  56. joe gores October 24th, 2007 at 8:32 am

Get A life all you people. He’s an American League fan, so what if he roots for the Red Sox what’s the problem here.

Most of you people are idiots anyway. I don’t see the problem only because the media is making this into a story. Like you they have no life either.

    GO RUDY, GO. PRESIDENT RUDY-YES

  57. StandingO'Neill October 24th, 2007 at 9:53 am

Regardless of who he’s rooting for, Rudy would make a terrible president. And the sad thing is I’ve heard a bunch of people say they’d vote Rudy in because he’s a yankee fan. And we wonder why this government has problems.

  58. StevefromScranton October 24th, 2007 at 4:14 pm

    Rudy is an IDIOT!

  59. Chrissy October 24th, 2007 at 6:18 pm

He should NEVER be allowed into our stadium again. His name should be ——————–FREDO….
