I'd be lying if I could tell you the math involved, but then again I don't pretend that I'm the foremost expert on the subject either. I think Torre should have been fired in 2005 (arguably 2004, for starting Kevin Brown in Game 7 of the ALCS), but also that the Yankees brass dealt with in a completely classless way. It reads like they just read moneyball and think they know everything about baseball now. They do have very funny photoshop jobs when the Yanks play the Sox. Plus these really knowledgeable guys gave originally gave the Mussina extension an "A", (and gave F's to the Jason Marquis and Gil Meche signings) loved the Farnsworth, Myers and Vilone signings (later claiming that the Yanks have no idea how to build a bullpen), thought Brian Bruney should be the Yanks main setup man and thought Giambi should be the regular first baseman. I'm sure the folks who run that site are good, devoted and somewhat knowledgeable fans. But their easy solutions are easy to put pen to paper when you're anonymous and not accoutable.
