I'm not going to go back and see who keeps dissing Hank but I for one think he might be just what we need. He is obviously going to let the baseball people make the decisions and mostly keep his nose out of things. It may take a couple of years to get rid of the deadwood and bring in some real ballplayers but it will only be for the best in the long run.

You’re a fool, Standing O’Neil. If that were the case, the Toronto Blue Jays would have the second best record in the AL. They were second in the League with a 4.31 ERA. And the San Diego Padres would have won the NL. They led their league with a 4.89 ERA.

Please Schill- the Blue Jays didn't get their rotation in order until late in the second half when Burnett decided to start pitching again. Also the Jays offense isn't even close to the Yankees offense. Even without arod the yankees have enough players who can hit the team into the postseason. And the Padres, they ahve no offense at all. Now if the yankees lost Posada, Arod, Damon and cano this year, then I'd say our offense is hurting. But while not as potenent, there is still a lot of offense to go around.

i don't mind kill-shilling calling dubya an idiot. he's just pointing out the reality of incompetent leadership. i go by another principle whether in baseball or politics and that is: question authority.

Kill-Schill(ing)

"Hank Steinbrenner’s recent assertion that the Yankees are in transition became self-fulfilling prophecy. Nice work, Henry. Another idiot son to match Dubya and Dolan."

As Ronaldus Maximus once said "There you go again." Why do you insist on these gratuitous political comments? We are Yankee fans here, not R's and D's. BTW, news flash, a lot of us out here in "Red state" America don't like people calling our President an idiot, especially during a war. So please, I'm asking with all due respect, let's just talk about bsaeball, huh?

Hate to brake it to you people, but the Yankees would have been in transition had the manager and third baseman remain the same. It's now been 11 years since 1996. You need to change course, and I'd say they're almost a little late in doing so. I apologize in advance if there are more growing pains ahead. I guess everyone here must be 12 years old or younger, since no remembers that we needed 1991-5 to get to 1996.

The most important hire now will be pitching coach. Hopefully it will be Eiland, with Patterson, Adred or Pavlick as BP coach.
