As a Yankees Fan i appreciate what Joe Torrie has done for our yankees organization. I live to see 4 championships under him and for that i am truely grateful for to go the dodgers is a great move for them as they have young and upcoming team where he can manage i wish the best in LA and seeing how i like The Dodgers over the Mets i would love to see The Yankees vs Torries Dodgers in the world series that would be awesome ! again win or lose Joe torrie you would always be a winner in my eyes and as for Joe G. i believe he gunna be a great fit for the Yankees i wish him the best with our organization and hope he brings us another Championship Go Yanks!

By the way, just to add to my story and as another aside, the Torre's used to own a sporting goods store in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, blocks away from the high school I once attended, New Utrecht.

Brother Frank Torre used to run it. I've met Frank who is a genuinely nice guy and like I said, know people and family members who know Joe to an extent.

That said, the Torre's are very business-minded, love the almighty dollar, and chose not to offer any discounts, even to the little leaguers who played in the Joe Torre Little League. Horrible people? Not at all. But money does drive them. I suppose this sort of goes hand in hand with my Little League story.

dark1p, I was a little hesitant when I started to write about that little league incident because 1) It's obvious that anyone can write anything on the internet and 2) If I needed to corroborate that story I'd have to name names, including my uncle's. I'm sure they wouldn't like that nor was it my intent. I just tired of people thinking that Torre is a saint who can do know wrong, walks on water, kisses babies and who has no ulterior motives.

I, as an "anonymous" poster can assure you that it is the truth, as contradicting as that might sound. I've posted at this forum a number of times, so it wasn't a hit and run tactic. Not that you are implying it, but I just want to say that I also don't have anything personal against Torre. It just is something I carry with me every time Torre plays to the crowd with his disingenuous persona that most people fall for.

It doesn't make him a bad guy or serial killer; we all have our flaws and skeletons - but he's certainly not this altruistic good guy who can do no wrong that most people buy into; a character trait which he's perfected in developing.

I'd gladly provide more info regarding the Little League as long as it doesn't incriminate anyone.

If that really was Pete posting a while back, I'm a little surprised at the post. While I realize the media, like the players, just adored Torre for his 'regular guy' routine and fatherly qualities, I wouldn't expect Peter himself to get on the board and berate people for not liking Torre. Not, at least, in the heated fashion of that post. Somehow, I have a hard time believing that Pete actually posted that.

As for Torre, I can understand why some people are upset. You don't make a career out of being 'classy' and then do what Torre did, both upon leaving the Yankees (those were 'classy' comments?) and also in potentially forcing out another manager. But the final word on the latter is yet to be written; I don't think we know the complete story.

Torre did OK while he was here. His teams performed about as well as they would with other managers, the same way the teams Torre managed before the Yankees did. I expect the Dodgers will perform in the same fashion. The man is hardly a genius, but he's OK.

However, that Little League story, if true, makes me think that my worst suspicions about him might be accurate. Corroboration of that story would be appreciated.

Say, Pete, you're a reporter. Know anyone would could verify or kibosh that unflattering tale?

Ummm, Born in da Bronx? The person who said “Didn’t your sister call you “The Mayor of Idiotville? was complimenting Pete. He was saying that the posters are idiots and Pete, the mayor, has to deal with us. Get it??

I recommend that you sharpen your comprehension skills before you post and trash other. Your last two posts just make you look silly.

you guys are a bunch of homer tools....torre can't manage, girardi is much better, torre is a hypocrite,etc.....girardi was fired by a bad club, torre has 4 series won under his belt, and he has pride-not a hypocrite at all. this is a badly botched off-season by the yankees - no other way around it. they can still turn it around, but lets not shift focus from the unclassy and embarassing things the yankees have done or had done to them.....add the cherry on top of the sox nwinning the series...
