I am thrilled about hiring of Joe G. Can't beat a knowledgeable, take charge, demanding taskmasker catcher for our manager. His Marlin players, young& old liked playing for him even though he was demanding. I know he will let us to bring across so many of hose baserunners we squandered last year waiting for a big hit. With A-Rod's $ available to buy bullpen guys who can thw a strike, get batters out, & not make us cringe when they enter a game, the futur looks bright. Joe G. can become a great manager IMO, even better than Torre was.

Loved how classy & honest Donnie B. was. So much forall that idle speculation that he would feel betrayed &abused
and leavethe Yankee fold forever. Way to go Donnie, hope things work ou well for you.

Let it go Pete. Joe G was clearly the better candidate. He won't fail as much as you would like him to.

Donnie Baseball, always has been, and always will be a class act. I think people underestimate him and hopefully he'll get his shot someday soon, and maybe find his way back home down the line. After Joe G wins a few rings of course....

The LA conference call was comical. Man, they gotta rehearse it better! lol

Nobody is buying what Grady and Colletti are smoking.

Torre is going to need all his diplomacy skills in LA. That team is a mess.

As far as Donnie is concerned, he is pure class all the way. The fact that he isn't holding the Yankees hostage with any boycott talk or any of that nonsense is why he will always be popular with the fans.

Arod could take a lesson as to how to treat the media and fan base from Donnie. It would serve him well at his next stop.

Wow.....most arrogant move in the history of baseball(other than Rafy Palmiero lying about roids while testifying before Congress). Game 4, Sox(can't even spell Socks right)about to win the Series and these jokers announce free-agency after sending a text and leaving a voicemail for Yankees brass(for the record I think the Steinbrenners don't have all of their dogs barking). Then they claim it's not about the money, but about the transition of the team. DO THESE YO-YO'S THINK WE ARE ALL STUPID. As a Yankee fan...good ridance to A-Rod...the least clutch and most overpaid Yankee of all time!

And Torre has hinted that he won't return and has negative feelings towards the Yankees, which just hurts the fans in the end and why Torre isn't a true Yankee and Mattingly is.
Good Riddance Torre and ARod. You two are meant for each other.

Mattingly is a great Yankee, just not a manager and he should have taken the bench coach job as he needs experience.

The LA conference call is a mess... it's really funny to listen to. Kinda symbolic of the year ahead for the Dodgers if you ask me. Now we will truly see Torre's worth as a manager without a 200 million payroll and Allstars all around.

When asked a question about whether he felt "cheated" by the organization he answered:

"Trust me, I'm not going to all of the sudden root for the Red Sox."

He was also asked a question about boycotting the Yankees on things like Old-Timers Day and he flat out said "no" and he "had no hard feelings" toward the Yankee organization. He went on to add:

"If the Yankees are playing Boston, trust me, I'm rooting for the Yankees."

That's why Don Mattingly is and always will be my favorite, all-time Yankee.

Rebecca,

He'd already pitched a year before Torre got there. It's in this article about Girardi. Talking about how it'll be tough with the young pitching studs.
