Joe did a great job – he did a great job after the interview also. He’s smart and articulate BUT that one line about “most of the players will come back” cut deep. I’m guessing and hearing that Posada is the wild card in this. I don’t know what their relationship was on the team and I heard the respect that Joe held for Jorge’s on field performance but something doesn’t seem to sit well and while it would be terrible to lose Jorge (I believe he’s been at least as much of a captain as Jeter) I have to wonder about the trickle down effect on Jeter. This is the first area I feel uncomfortable about. The next is the coaches.

Hey BBFan coming from Neyer that is a surprise. He’s a die hard Royal fan and tries to take every opportunity to talk down about the Yankees. He used to remind me of Mike Lupica. That Lupica has no class and didn’t even right about his beloved Mets collpase and choice to right bad about the Yankees early exit in the Playoffs.

Very nice first interview as manager. I listned to it live on ESPNEWS. Thought it was amusing that the moderator (not sure her name)said on national TV the 1800 number for Brian to call when he was trying to get through. Also, is this the only media event, or will their be a press confrence from New York with Brian and Mr. Stienbrener?

Did any one see what Rob Neyer wrote in his ESPN blog?
